Medicaid's income limits are also devastatingly cruel for seniors w/ no assets and on social security. You can be $20 over the limit and it's a denial, but that social security income won't cover half the cost of something like memory care. It is a *painfully* strict system you need to plan around.

if millennials could afford homes this wouldnt be a problem but this is going to hit the generation like a truck

If your loved one hits the income limit, but the income doesn't put a dent in their care costs, millennials still wind up screwed and lose a shot at assets their parents wanted to pass down. Unless you can handle caretaker duty, those things end up being sold so aging parents can afford care.

I was playing Mass Effect for the first time 13 or so years ago, realizing I really needed to think about a career path as I worked through college. That trilogy gave me the push I needed to start writing about games seriously. Will always be so thankful for every person that touched it.

If you're a BioWare fan, a developer influenced by its games, or a media person who was impacted by them and want to talk about what the studio's games have meant to you for a Kotaku story, please reach out in a dm here or at kshepard@kotaku.com

time for a nice lunch break, and by lunch i mean staring at a wall w/ a yogurt for 30 minutes trying to decide what 'positive thing' i will focus on so i can have some energy to function.

it's been what, a decade + of Bioware struggling under EA? everything that happened aside, i still think you should be proud you managed to get some shit out the door under the circumstances.

truly this is it. It’s so delightfully corny and I love it. And like I knew Cindy was a moron, but you absolutely cannot fuck around telling people in Mississippi how to eat. she should know that. now they’re gonna eat her up.

Obsessed w/ this MS campaign ad for Scott Colom for its perfect Cindy roast and incredible accents.

NowThis Impact@nowthisimpact.bsky.social

Scott Colom is running for Senate in Mississippi because the Republican incumbent has 'lost her damn mind.'

i hear these ppl talk and IMMEDIATELY HOMESICK. love how you can tell they were forced to enunciate bc we do love turning thirty words into one.

tarrant county gotta be the capital of republican dudes w/ soft hands and big ass trucks that have never seen mud. i s2g they haven't worked for a damn thing ever.

guys that cloudflare chart is about automated content crawling not social media bots, Yandex is an indexing site, when one of its DCs go down they do less crawling of the web. please learn to read.

everyone is making pretty bold anecdotal claims about the Yandex DC going out resulting in less right wing content, but all the actual data I’ve seen has been saying it hasn’t moved the needle at all. I would be very skeptical of these claims; they will almost certainly turn out to be totally false.

Aside from ruining entire fights and all that jazz, I’m extra annoyed it looks like the nasty FFXIV plugin is just exploiting the same things other paid bots used for ages - like before the plugins/launcher era really took off.

My Roman Empire type knowledge here bc I got rly mad about watching someone botting to get a house and YouTube personalities attributing OoB and invuln exploits to an ACT plugin. (Surprise, it was not an ACT plugin)

I think the FFXIV community has been p good about policing its own mods tbh, and that’s how I’d rather it be, but this blows. On the flip side, it would be nice never see another person botting PvP casuals or using OoB shit in ranked. 🥲 the auto LB/guard is irritating enough.

Vibe-coded stuff doesn't work not just because you're using prompts to write code. It doesn't work because you don't understand engineering and have outsourced your critical thinking. When something goes wrong, you can't fix it with your own code OR prompt specifically enough to fix it.

I need to pay someone to sit beside me while I attempt my next Palace of the Dead solo run and slap my hand every time I try to open a chest with low HP. I can survive hitting every trap and pulling a whole damn mob room, but cannot resist the urge to just kill myself from impatience.

watch it be more expensive to fix this stuff than the like $50 I paid for it if anything is bad. but that’s a problem for future lead poisoned Andrea.

Exactly. I am tired of seeing the “I always knew”/“their work was actually bad” takes whenever allegations emerge. Sometimes—often, actually!—bad people find their way into good spaces and make good things. And you’re not better than the folks who were taken advantage of for “always knowing”
