I used to be a nun. Abandoned god to teach 7 kids how to sing and climb trees. Fell in love with their ex-military father & now we're all on the lam.

hi from South Carolina, where I taught for 18 years any SC educator will tell you: our unofficial state motto is "thank god for Mississippi"

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Trump claims that thanks to Republicans, Mississippi's schools are "among the best ranked in the nation"

if this goes on for another ten years we're gonna have to start thinking seriously about pushing back a lil bit

Trump is straight up saying during speeches that he wants white people coming to the country but not black. I don’t know what else people need to see.

American conservatives are constantly bemoaning the decline of aesthetic standards and calling for a return to tailored suits and classical Roman architecture, but are now forced to defend the Cheesecake Factory. A constant tension between the Brooks Brothers patrician and the Kid Rock populist.

I've been using women's restrooms for 46.5 years and I can tell you the only time we're scared in there is when we've just narrowly escaped a cis hetero creep who shouldn't be allowed out in public

We acknowledge that no one has the bandwidth for this, but if it helps: -It’s ‘sleight of hand’ -It’s ‘bated breath’ -It’s ‘lo and behold’ -It's 'buck naked' -It’s ‘brass tacks’ -It’s ‘free rein’ -It’s ‘toe the line'

very cool of you, medical / pharmaceutical industries, to put an expiration date on prescriptions for anxiety medication. this has never once caused a problem for me.

All major sports teams except the Cavs, i.e., more evidence that you should give up all professional sports fandom except basketball. 🏀

Ramaswamy has produced an attack ad weaponizing the rape of his opponent, Amy Acton, when she was 12 years old. It features Acton’s mother, who abandoned Acton after she was raped by her step-father, fleeing the state with her husband. Here is the corporate money helping fund that ad.

Christianity Today has seen about half its staff quit or laid off in the last 14 months. Former employees told me that new business leaders have intervened in editorial decisions and are effectively abandoning the outlet's commitment to independent journalism. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/21/u...

yeah, we could say in some ways you've never fucked a couch but the couch gets a vote here

DOKOUPIL: I have one big question on Iran -- why haven't we won decisively? JD VANCE: Well, I would say in some ways we have won decisively, but the enemy gets a vote here

We seem to be having some success with hot smart people who are good at television, has anyone thought of trying this before

Mike Rogers is bought off — $5M from corporations to run his previous campaigns. He only cares about power and going back one more time through the revolving door to make another $14M.

Exactly. The word "Christian" is imbued with meaning by the behavioral patterns of the people who claim the label. "True Christians wouldn't..." ok, but millions who call themselves Christians WOULD and DID, so where is your curiosity? Your humility? Even just a pause for reflection??

Walz: If you say you love freedom but you don't believe freedom is for everybody, then the thing you love is not freedom, it is privilege.

I wrote something about how we're seeing the rise of the online "alpha male." This is someone who speaks in clipped imperatives, squeezes into tight suits, and performs for our feed. They present a vision of masculinity shaped by politics, tech, and 100 years of cultural history 🧵

one time my purse got stolen out of my car but it was no big deal bc I canceled my cards, insurance replaced my window, I bought a new purse & wallet, I got a new ID, I wasn't carrying $3000 cash at the time, & I wasn't a universally hated dog-murdering racist ass-hat
