*nudge* our entire pay day was eaten by bills so it would be nice to find a tip in the tip jar for gas money and such. Thank you to my readers!

Mary Pezzulo@marypezzulo.bsky.social

The tip jar is here. It's really hard to stay in gas and groceries with all the high prices so it's nice when I find a tip in the jar. Thank you to my readers, more writing is coming soon! www.patheos.com/blogs/steelm...

I know absolutely nothing about Lula except that i saw someone share a clip on insta of him in celebration kissing a trans woman politician on the cheek and oh my god is that a radical act for a politician in 2026 so lets fucking go

marine corps boards crossing out their instructions "expel trans marines" and writing in "we keep this trans marine" is, frankly, a great example of what it means that a society is more than just its government

Lina Khan on Mamdani: "One thing we saw the mayor be very attentive to is all sorts of daily nickel and diming -- taking on junk fees, subscription traps. Those can seem very micro and targeted, but in the aggregate I see those as really designed to take on unfair methods of competition."

It’s just so appalling and enraging how casual and commonplace this has become. I’m out of words.

Astonishing: Maxwell was willing to tell Blanche about some of Trump's rapes, and he ordered her not to. "Let's not talk about inviduals." WTF were they there to talk about? There's EVIDENCE on this.

Amanda Marcotte@amandamarcotte.bsky.social

This report is genuinely overwhelming, in terms of the evidence both against Trump and of a ham-fisted cover-up. Including one instance in which Ghislaine Maxwell was actually about to mention one of Trump's young accusers and Todd Blanche told her to stop talking. The media response is "yawn."

Mississippi, there are only 9 days left until Election Day! If you haven’t made your voting plan, don’t delay and make one today at ScottColom.com/vote. We have to show up and show out on November 3rd! #MississippiMatters

I don't know exactly how to say this without seeming crazy. But there is this whole subculture of extremist conservative Christians (I'm still a Christian but not like that) who are obsessed with the idea that liberals want to take your kids away and corrupt them.

I don’t think we should get used to a man this wealthy, this full of hate and this willing to demonize a small minority having so much power in our economy and in our politics. To defend democracy, we must defeat the oligarchs.

I do think when historians look back the period the exact moment where it flipped and started going the other way won’t be anything any politician did but my Minneapolis neighbors weathering the worst of the regime in the streets, rallying together, fighting back, and winning

I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.

The lesson from Brazil is that democracy cannot be taken for granted. Defeating authoritarianism at the ballot box is only part of the struggle. Defending democratic institutions, protecting civil rights and demanding accountability require strong, sustained, principled public participation.
