Introducing "moo". A deterministic, fixed-point port of "Luau". I'm building all my multiplayer games around this language as a scripting system, because I care about my scripting language being completely deterministic across multiple platforms. Now you can too =) github.com/mas-bandwidt...

As far as I can tell, the first thing anyone uses an AI for in Neuromancer is summarizing a bunch of documents no one wants to read. Prescient as always!

The year is 2040. Researchers using AI have cured all cancer. Ever company on earth provides workers with AI assistants. Ed Zitron predicts the bubble will pop any day now

become an animist and never again worry about whether the machines are thinking. so are the trees? the machines can help us make better websites though

A lot of people seem confused because AI both lowers the floor AND raises the ceiling. They se slop and assume thats all that's possible. But special is possible but takes effort! Don't listen to people who cannot imagine using a powerful tool to do anything but put minimal effort in.

friends have you heard the good news about git?

conputer dipshit@davidcrespo.bsky.social

this is a bit of a trend right now and there's a good reason people are thinking about it in terms of granular version control. when you work with people in real time on something complicated you need to be able to time travel on a whim, backtrack, etc

Every aspect of life as a gay man is unimaginably better than it was when I was born in the mid 80s. We beat the plague that was killing us by the hundreds of thousands and then won broad social and civic equality.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

heres one that will melt some brains If the human using an AI is responsible for its bad outcome (And they should be) They also get the credit for its good outcome too. You cant have it both ways.

imagine a world-destroying physics revelation comes out, forcing us to re-engineer our entire logic around physics and haters just go "i don't believe it because it's AI" meanwhile outside our windows we have hyper-space travel thanks to that new revelation that was discovered

the Internet Archive thing is an example of the fascinating trend recently where people consuming products they’re not paying for seem to believe they also have the right to dictate how much human labor is spent producing them.

More people can have the pleasure (and pain) of making their own games now. Don't despair in this, rejoice! It's a good thing! Let everybody make games. A new generation of creative talent will find new ways to play. Bring it!

If youre not using AI at the very least to run red team trials against your software even if you insist on writing it all by hand, you are being negligent at best.

The antis like to try to say software using AI to help with development is necessarily more insecure, but I'm at a point where I'd have an increasingly hard time trusting devs who *don't* use AI. We're in an arms race. I want devs to keep up.

To whoever said that the LLMs will ossify programming languages field because there isn’t enough training data for new ones: I am happy to report you are wrong.

Want to make games with AI? Cool. Want to make games without AI? Also cool. Forcing your views about what you can and cannot use when creating games on other people. Not cool.

todays protip: if the cosmos is telling you your design/code/idea sucks, stop and listen. often i find that some chunk of code will throwup more than its fair share of bugs, or not integrate well, or not live up to its hype/cost/time. rather than resent it increasingly over time, take it as a sign

People just can't help forcing their opinions about how create things, on other people. Police your own creativity, leave ours alone.

good: using ai to make better art tools bad: using ai to make art huuuuge difference

People complaining about how terrible AI is and the slop it creates. Please, stop telling on yourself! It's so obviously you have no creative urges. No taste. There is nothing inside!
