This was the second forest fire aerial embroidery I made back in August, short title is 'Apathy' - something I was seeing a lot of around me during the extreme heatwave. It's now available and you can see its full name in the description: victoriaroserichards.co.uk/work/forest-... 1/2

TLDR: Believe women. Believe us when we talk about horrific things that you see circulating in the news, but also believe us when we talk about our discoveries, our science, our interests, our understanding, our experience, our work. The world is quite literally better for everyone when you do.

@strangenewpod.com not sure if you guys picked up on Scotty's joke in the turbolift last week. Martin Quinn was often in a Scottish comedy sketch show called Burnistoun, and this is one of their most well-known sketches (sadly, no Martin Quinn actually in this one): youtube.com/watch?v=HbDn...

Was slumming it on fb and ig to see reactions to the Academy of Natural Sciences closing. It’s heartening that people are pissed. But it’s astonishing/enlightening how little understanding there is of what *any* museum is, who runs them, and how they’re funded. 🧵with dinosaur pics for attention

Q: 👅? A: No. Q: 🍆? A: NO. #Erythrite & #Skutterudite both have a lot of arsenic and cobalt, which are not exactly great for your health. Now contemplate how when exposed to air & water, skutterudite dissolves into ions to form erythrite, which is extremely soft. Do Not Lock. Just… NO. #MinCup26

For those who haven't heard of this yet, the fastest/easiest way to reduce indoor air pollution from wildfire smoke is to get a basic 20x20 box fan, and slap a single 20x20 air filter (make sure it's very high MERV) on the back. No tape or anything, it just sticks to the back of the fan.

One of the most memorable scenes in the history of cinema. RIP Sam Neill

Lightning bugs have arrived on our block!! My next door neighbor Maggie & I just freaked the fuck out bc neither of us have seen one here in years. The native habitat worked!!! She’s lived here ~40 years & said the streets used to be full of them. She’d catch them as a girl. Now they’re back 😭😭😭

We should never have fallen for the term ‘natural gas’. Let’s just call it what it mostly is: 85% to 95% Methane. The glorified gas stove? Just a dirty Methane stove.

It's you against the world, and you will not win. But you get to make your moves. Not them.
