Took a Klansman’s hood and punched his face before you were born. Burned out, broken, and a sideline cheerleader after a lifetime of failing. “Life. It’s a big leaking boat and we’re all in it together.” Oh yeah, Go Celtics.

who should be the mayor of LA is not an academic question. it is a real one that will determine the lives of people who will live under the power of that mayor. There are Angelenos who's lives will be literally thrown in a garbage can and burned if karen bass wins.

The fact they are making the WNBA finals game the middle of a fucking weekday afternoon to accommodate early season nba hoops is so disgraceful. I love love love sports but being a woman in this community is thankless and disappointing most of the time. We deserve so much better.

I get it. Ideals and integrity matter. This system forces us into “bad or worse” choices. Bad is cowardly, stupid pandering with anti-trans rhetoric. Worse is ICE operating w/ impunity, higher prices for everything, fewer jobs, less housing, more preventable deaths, & shitty healthcare for all.

The elections are on next Tuesday, and so much is at stake, including the soul of the Democratic Party when it comes to transgender people. I am asking you to leave a very small number of races blank in which a Democrat has embraced extreme anti-trans hate. I make my case here.

Everyone should read these threads I did about industry lobbyists and the EPA and understand them. Take the time to see the unambiguous evidence of what's happening now at this moment inside the EPA. Please retweet them. Please read them. Each one of the threads. It's happening in slow motion.

I'm going to try to do this cleanly. Today's right wing governments are networked to each other. Those networks are well-documented. You can read about them in books. Following the elections in one node of that network is good practice for understanding the U.S. node.

I just think Matt's wrong about this. We're at a point in our technological development where a ton of problems spill over national borders--if Flavio Bolsonaro burns down the Amazon, that will flood houses in Miami.

I don't know that there is a template or a "secret sauce" or a clear-cut lesson to take from this. But if there is one it's the idea of treating social media as the hostile territory that it is, of actually acting like you are a participant in propaganda warfare and not like a consumer.

Small sample size be damned! This is ridiculous. And if it continues like this, it’s gonna result in MVP votes for JT. #Celtics

Many comments on the great election victories in Brazil and Serbia state that the authorian right is in decline or that voters have rejected far-right authoritarianism. That is a wrong interpretation of what happened. Progressive movements mobilized and beat the authoritarian right. That's different

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

Eric Bauza’s final film performance, as of right now, is Coyote VS ACME. Roadrunner’s testimony is one of his final character performances in the film. He says “Beep” around 46 times, that’s all he says. Yet it says everything about his strengths and passion as a voice actor, with just one word.

Trump admin arrests Colorado priest. Incarcerates him for over a year. Judge orders him released without charges. They release him without the wheelchair he needs -- other prisoners have to bodily carry him out. He's now being tested for latent TB: www.newsfromthestates.com/article/colo...

Commissioned art has always lacked that ‘je ne sais quoi’. All of these beloved “IPs” started as independent, un-funded art. Almost every band’s best album is their first. Art and money…think they go good together but it’s most often a messy mess.

All of the Abrahamic religions (Christianity, Judaism, Islam) boil down to two main components. You will find the same components among the Eastern religions also. 1.) Don't be a dick 2.) Do good things Apparently humanity has trouble with the basics.

Congrats to Lula on overcoming Mark Zuckerberg and Donald Trump to defeat Hospital Pervert Jr., even as his opposition literally blocked off roads and turned off bus service during election day. Fascists are scary but they are always, 100% of the time, ultimately gigantic fucking losers.

I’m not saying any of *this* is good, right now. But (read below) I have great hope for the future. *This* is greatly influencing that future. The yutes are inheriting a flaming dumpster of feces. But they’ve got a lifetime to fix it and these lessons set a foundation.

a somewhat underrated long term impact of trump is that a sizeable portion of people have never been politically active in a non-trump world. I have never cast a ballot in a presidential election that didn't have his name on it and I'm almost 30. He's politics to a huge chunk of people.

Kansas Dem Sen. nominee Adam Hamilton on trans rights: “I don’t think we should take a small group of people and bully them, pick on them, and hurt them. I understand one thing really clearly when it comes to transgender people, and that is Jesus told me I was to love my neighbor as I love myself”

I’ve not seen one good, workable idea for how to ‘fix’ the problem. The 25th will never be used as intended and instead functions as a shield for illegal Constitutional behavior. Honor, integrity, and ‘country-over-party’ isn’t how any of this works anymore.

We don’t know if the early vote will be predictive because all Republicans could just be waiting to vote until Election Day. But what this means in practice is that to win, Trump/GOP will have to have the most successful EDay mobilization operation in modern history— and that it’s completely stealth

As far as our data can tell this is pretty much unambiguously good news for Democrats. Young voters strongly favor the Dems this cycle, including young men allianceforyouthpower.org/wp-content/u...

So, POTUS immunity was a horrific perversion of the Constitution but SCOTUS did it. Work the problem. This is how to limit that egregious power: NONE of “the President’s Men” are covered by that immunity.

“Several conservative organizations …— including the Heritage Foundation and American Moment — have pressed White House counsel to either prepare pardons or put in place funding for the legal fees necessary to defend junior staffers from criminal and congressional probes or potential lawsuits.”

Selling pardons has undermined and invalidated this pathway. Challenging pardons is a big legal task. Please, sir, make a list of everyone who did crimes on your behalf. As a start, if they accept the pardon, they can never work in government again. (Easy legislative fix with a majority.)

“You almost died!” is something I have to yell far too often at donor cycle riders.

This tracks with my very small sample. The percentage of rock-stupids buying “it’s Biden’s fault” is dwindling by the day. The larger cohort of “own the libs” trend followers have BILLS, and fear gas stations now. Those People have regrets, as well they should. Let them go hide in the hedges.

I know we shouldn’t overreact to early vote, but we are seeing indicator after indicator that Republicans just are not voting. Maybe they are taking their sweet time and waiting but probably not? And undecideds aren’t going with the party in power when everything sucks!
