The only legit way to make games is in your parents' basement on a ZX Spectrum or Commodore 64. Apple II is a marginal case and you should consider upgrading by 2030.

adamatomic@adamatomic.bsky.social

making games so you can hopefully afford to make more games is literally a different industry from grinding up people so number goes up and it is harmful to pretend otherwise regardless of whether or not we share a platform or a binary format

Question to devs & players: I've had a long discussion with an artist about art in games and especially Steam capsules... he hates AI art, but he uses Photoshop’s Generative Fill and thinks it’s perfectly fine because he paid for it. What are your thoughts on this? #ai #games #gamedev

My first 5 TTRPGs in the order I played* them: 1. Red Box Basic DnD 2. 2e ADnD 3. Shadowrun 4. GURPS 5. Warhammer FRPG *does not include all the random books I read but couldn't find anyone to play back in the early 90s, looking at you Palladium and FASA

My first 5 TTRPGs, in the order I played them: 1. Rifts 2. AD&D 2nd Ed 3. Heroes Unlimited 4. Some Indiana Jones game (Not TSR) 5. D&D 3rd Ed

Opportunities for indy publishing in many fields. When I was a kid if you wanted to sell your own game you had to head to a locally owned computer store with ziplock baggies and convince the owner to let you sell on consignment. Probably on cassette tape.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

Truth in advertising

KetAnthropic JoshAI@ketanjoshi.co

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

You have to be your game's unique value proposition. Make games so infused with your special sauce that an AI attempt to replicate it will only miss the point and fuck it up. Remember, the vibecoders have enough AI brain rot that they can no longer recognize subtext or accurately critique media.

developers, is this a concern for you when it comes to next fest or any other sort of demo? has it influenced your recent decision making? if so, get in touch. DMs are open, email is nathan@aftermath.site, and I’m nathangrayson.666 on signal

M. Night Shyamalan's YouTube channel (which is something he has now) came out of nowhere with this great line.

the guy running against hitler put hitler into his government and handed power over to him. so actually people should probably have looked closer at him. that's a good metaphor for biden though, he also handed power peacefully over to a fascist after that fascist had previously attempted a coup.

Important for anyone with an Nvidia card btw Getting this out there if it hasn't been already, turn this off! It's automatically switched on after the recent updates.
