This is great to see. Making it easier for those without a driveway to access cheaper home charging is a critical step to ensuring the EV transition is fair & equitable. Further strengthening the rights of renters to request a charger would also be a really positive step. www.gov.uk/government/n...

This is really interesting, and basically vindicates the v different approach Labour took towards the Greens in Holborn & St Pancras vs Gorton & Denton.

We've done some polling at @persuasionuk.bsky.social on the Holborn by-election, looking beyond how people voted to why they voted the way they did, which I discuss exclusively in the @newstatesman1913.bsky.social this afternoon: www.newstatesman.com/politics/pol...

If you or someone you know is sharp, self motivated and political to their core, with a strong sense of the labour movement and a good working knowledge of parliament - then we want to hear from you! Climate and environmental policy knowledge not necessary. 👇

Today is the 117th consecutive day somewhere in the UK has recorded a temperature of 20°C or higher. The 11th of June was the last time we didn't reach this threshold. Fresher air comes in on Wednesday allowing temperatures to fall, and likely to stay just below 20°C.

The time to reimagine clean industrial policy is NOW. So, too, is the need for bold, progressive leadership to deploy innovative green technology, strengthen critical industries, and ensure every new project upholds standards and delivers high-quality, family-sustaining jobs. https://ampr.gs/3Vj4R4Q

Baffling to see The Times claim that Burnham “did not mention energy” in his conference speech. Energy was referenced no fewer than 10 times, alongside a major announcement of £4bn for Great British Grid to cut connection delays and bring bills down. Britain's energy challenge was front & centre.

Another mega @lcefuk.bsky.social conference programme is done. There was a real buzz around conference this year and it was brilliant - and still slightly surreal - to have climate and environment *physically* at the heart of it with our LCEF Hub.

Excited to be heading to NYC for Climate Week this month, and to be speaking on this panel on Monday 21st. Getting clean industrial policy right is good for the country, good for the economy, good for citizens and good for the climate. Looking forward to discussing!

Excellent piece - understanding the construction of these arguments against popular climate policy can also (as Sam writes!) lets us recognise these arguments when made against other policies too, and how to dismantle them. We must all learn to read the opposition’s playbook!

Very depressing that this highly misleading statistic is now being promoted by Conservative Shadow Home Secretary. Philp contrasts “foreign born” with “British citizens” but a lot of the people in the “foreign born” group ARE British citizens.

The lines of MAGA attack against both Ossoff and Talarico--"feminine," "beta," "theater kid," "low-T," etc.--are a beta test for the GOP, which is hoping that anti-gay hatred will be their next winning argument. You'll hear "homo" and "faggot" in their 2028 campaigns--and they'll come for marriage.

The record temperatures, wildfires and drought we have seen in the UK & Europe is climate change in action. There is hope. It has been a record year for renewable energy generation, all new homes will have solar panels from next year. But we must accelerate the transition to clean & green energy.

LCEF is proud to have supported this - with extreme heat becoming a regular occurrence in UK summers, it’s vital that we help keep people safe, cool and comfortable in their homes, as well as decarbonising to combat climate change. Air to air heat pumps will be an important part of the solution.
