I just want to mention: Even if your AI somehow runs locally and you think it's okay, it's still using trained data from a pre-existing dataset which is still full of stolen work. The sheer amount of data gen AI needs is in the hundreds of thousands, you can only get that by scraping

The main way in which AI has negatively impacted games industry jobs is not through actual automation of those jobs or even untrue claims about automation. It's by making capital unavailable because it's tied up in AI investments while also destroying the consumer base for video game hardware.

Filled out a survey for UK authors and illustrators, about AI Licensing and Remuneration. My personal take on this was that there's no combination of money or terms, that would make me want to license my work to train Gen AI. I don’t want “a little” AI use in any game or art or writing, even if it makes it “easier” for you. It sours the whole thing. Just like I don’t want a little shit in my cake mix even if I don’t taste it in the final cake, or for the baker to not wash their hands because it’s faster.

All uses of AI are costing someone… this sucks as the Game UI database is such a valuable resource.

If your game (or whatever other project or art you work on) gets caught using genAI the only response I want to see is an apology and commitment to not use in the future. There’s no justification at this point using technology that pollutes communities and steals labor.
