New: Mayor Zohran Mamdani and a group of his friends have been secretly using the NYPD Police Academy’s gymnasium in Queens to play pickup basketball — scrambling some operations at the facility. w/ @grahamrayman.bsky.social & Joe Anuta www.politico.com/news/2026/10...

Chris Pratt had so much public affection and respect between doing Parks & Rec and the first Guardians. He was going to be the next big thing. And then he... pissed it away.

Obviously this is outrageous in terms of partiality. But it's also yet another argument against rolling news. Rolling news has *so much* time to fill. Things like this must be a godsend for producers but it's really unhealthy for our discourse. If the BBC has to make cuts, it should bin News 24.

BBC News just interrupted its coverage to go, live, to Nigel Farage - a man with no contitutional standing in our setup - responding to the budget - a document which nobody has seen yet. WHY

Still thinking about “Yes. Because you are very classless.”

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

The man who was due at one thirty has arrived at one fifteen meaning the bacon sandwich I was making will get cold 😡

All the fuss about Oxford Street closing and won't somebody think of the buses?!?! and what about a person with a walking stick?!?! made me go to Google Maps and colour in all the pedestrian bits of Liverpool. Loads of it. A massive swathe of the centre.

And I haven't even included the likes of the Pier Head and the Albert Dock, or the streets around the University. Pedestrianisation is great and there should be more of it everywhere.

The Serbian and Brazilian election results are making me feel an emotion I can barely identify, it's been so long. Is this... hope?

Caught up on Strictly and my main takeaway is I don’t know who Jamie Miller is but I absolutely despise him with all my soul.

There was a man washing down the bus stop on Victoria Road in New Brighton. No buses stop there and they haven’t for going on twenty years.

(Only the part about knocking down Hammersmith Bridge and building a new one instead of leaving it in limbo. All that stuff about housing targets and gridlock can sod off).

These City firms do know she wasn't very good, right?

🚨 NEW: Rachel Reeves is rumoured to quit as an MP to "cash in" on her experience as Chancellor It comes after she "secretly met" two City companies in the last fortnight [@MillardClothier]

BBC Three justifying its axing by showing two episodes of Hyperdrive on a Saturday night in 2026.

I really feel for Alexis because between George and Shaun she’s found herself strapped to a personality vacuum two years in a row. #Strictly #OnADelay #BeenMakingMyTea

I love all the pros losing their accents over their time on the show. Carlos is going full TOWIE. #Strictly

Stop trying to talk to them on the dance floor after the dance, let them get their bloody breath back #Strictly

Disappointed that Jaime Winstone’s nan wasn’t a terrifying Cpckney harridan ruling the family from her armchair à la Lou Beale. #Strictly

It never ceases to amaze me how many women, after putting all their shopping through at the checkout, seem surprised that they then have to get their purse out to pay.

There’s a shop in Liverpool’s Met Quarter that seemingly sells nothing except black puffa jackets and scarves and gloves. It’s basically scally central.

One thing I like being out and about on a Saturday is seeing the divorced dads trying to bond with their uninterested kids.

This cafe is run by some absolutely terrifying Turkish women. They make great coffee but I really wouldn’t want to complain about a dirty spoon.

Steve Rotheram drinks Budweiser, impeach him now

Thrilled to see my Prime Minister and my elected mayor being not very good at Only Connect, really fills me with confidence. #Gogglebox

We should absolutely allow criminal proceedings to run their course and innocent until proven guilty and everything but when I heard Meghan Markle’s dad lives in the Philippines it was very… yeah.

Snow White, 1980, cinema in Bury Park, Luton. I was three and my mum worried I’d fidget and get bored. Instead I sat absolutely rapt and didn’t move an inch. It was, after all, a big telly.

First film you saw at the cinema. The real first one, not the pretend one you tell people! Mine: The Empire Strikes Back, 1980, Wigan. We were near the front and I can still remember how massive the AT-ATs looked, looming over us out of the snow :) Film, year, where, and whatever stuck with you.

Through articles about the Glee revival I have learned that it ended with Sue becoming Vice President and oh boy that show went off the rails.

All In A Day’s Work: the most exciting piece of music in movie history. #TomorrowNeverDies

HMS Bedford being crewed by Jason Watkins and Hugh Bonneville and Pip Torrens and Gail Platt’s Gay Dad is really distracting in 2026. #TomorrowNeverDies

Adverts after the escape from the Devonshire mean I’ll have to stick around to see the fall from the Carver tower which means watching the bike chase which means watching Wai Lin kicking arse which means I really should go to bed now.
