Look, I know all the reasons we got here, but we really need to start seriously thinking about what we do in a world where The Markets punish whole countries for voting for decency, compassion, and fairness. We must stop pretending the capitalist machine is an objective, value neutral force.

It's very, very telling, I think, that the markets are so concerned about the pro-democracy incumbent winning

Heavily inspired by Morrowind, Planescape and 70's Star Wars with a dash of bronze age and art nouveau. The mood? Conan after Conan: all the heroes are dead and this is the world they built. That's OMIOS URES, my weird fantasy RPG. And it's FREE on itch.io! matheusgraef.itch.io/omios-ures

The trouble with hoping that Labour/the Democrats/[insert your favourite disappointing political party] will learn from this is that they don't want to. They're not socialists-at-heart with a sense of pragmatism, they're just rightwing people.

It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

Butterscotch got into the crawlspace behind the tub in the upstairs bathroom and I can't get him out. The animal control guy said not to worry and he'll come out when he's hungry, but he went so far in there that I can't see him. To top it off, I have a house full of children and other cats.

He poked is head out TWICE, but when I offered a treat or his favorite toy, he went back in. He even went so far as to stick his front leg and head out into the closet before ducking back in. He's fucking with me, isn't he?

Children have trouble with simple commands like, "Leave the bathroom closet open so Butterscotch can get out, but if you need to use the toilet don't leave the BATHROOM door open because we don't want the other cats going in." The 10 year old should be fine, but 13yo will forget I told him that.

I'm trying to be cool about it, but if this cat gets trapped somewhere that he can't get out I am going to go apeshit. Did I mention this is also the silent cat. I mean, he can''t meow or make any other vocalizations whatsoever. So if he were trapped I would not know.

It's funny how time and time again we learn that caring about others is the winningest strategy, but some assholes still try to say, "Sure, but we have this bus here. We need to throw SOMEBODY under it."

I think people intuitively understand that democratic candidates tossing trans kids to the wolves is not only morally repugnant but also politically ineffective, otherwise they wouldn't freak out every time someone said they weren't voting for a democrat who did this

One of these days I'd like to write something post-apocalyptic in the sense of a revelation instead of a destruction. I don't know what that would actually be about or be like, but I like it as an idea.

One of the things I think people enjoy about post apocalyptic fiction is the state of a world utterly changed and yet still familiar. Is there a way to do that without the sense of loss that usually accompanies? I don't fucking know, man.

Anti-trans Democrats are spreading poison when we can least afford it, during elections in this ongoing fascist takeover. As a strategy, it’s a recipe for failure. As a moral stand, it’s reprehensible. PS I’m the father of young trans woman and I’ll never forgive anyone who makes her life harder.

there’s no such thing as “strategic bigotry.” I know this because there is no amount of money you could pay me to become a bigot. the democrats who do this agree to do it because they’re bigots

Josh Turek of Iowa, Democrat, comes out with one of the worst anti-trans ads yet. Not only is it an anti-sports ad, it proposes a ban on federal funding for gender affirming care. That would hit all medicaid and medicare patients, and any ACA federally-subsidized plans as well. Horrific.

I like to point out that the segregationist KKK wives in the 1950s were being truthful when they said they would be uncomfortable sharing a restroom with a Black woman. The solution to this is that "uncomfortable" does not justify discrimination against other people.

The hand of an ogre pushed out through the bed curtains, tossing a few coins. "I'm in my nightgown!" Eventually the ogre poked her head out as well. That's when they noticed the stench in the fireplace.

Another fighter examined to find the corpse of a woman stuffed up the chimney. The ogre freaked out and attacked. The halfling lured her into the wraith room. As soon as she entered, he became invisible (a power that Shadowdark halflings have). The wraiths attacked the ogre. It wasn't pretty.

Soon after they encountered a pair of wraiths in a bedroom. The wraiths shrieked and attacked. One party member shut the door. I decided to say the wraiths were bound to the room. I can be merciful. Then they met "Janet Amber".

One of the fighters knocked on a door to hear a very rough voice say "Who is it?" in a terrible attempt at falsetto. He gave his name and asked for hers. "I'm Janet Amber, of course. Who else would I be?" Janet assumed they were servants and when they refused to leave she offered a tip.
