Lise Meitner was the 2nd woman to earn a physics PhD at the Univ of Vienna and Germany’s first female physics professor. She fled Nazi Germany, helped explain nuclear fission, and has an element named for her. 49 Nobel nominations, she never won. Her male colleague did. #SheShed #VivaHerAlliance

@ralstonreports.bsky.social Was there a hidden Nevada angle in this Maine debate - kinda looks like NV map on the podiums.

Troy Jackson after Collins takes credit for rural healthcare cuts in big beautiful bill not being as bad as they could've been even though she voted to advance the bill: "Sen. Collins is like an arsonist who helped set the fire, and then she wants credit for bringing a cup of water to put it out"

Responding to fears of antisemitism by vilifying Muslims does not protect Jews. It feeds bigotry. And when that rhetoric is spewed at Jewish conferences in the name of Jewish safety, it’s all the more painful. Jewish and Muslim safety go hand in hand. We should never have to choose between them.

haaretz.comFears of antisemitism turn into attacks on Islam in Jewish confabsSome conservative leaders are responding to Jewish fears about antisemitism by casting Muslims and Islam as a central threat – and hoping that message will move Jewish voters to the right

“Socialism is a scareword they have hurled at every advance the people have made… socialism is their name for most anything that helps the people. 1952. Truman. This is how stale their desperate fearmongering is. cc: @MarshaBlackburn

“We don’t know enough about ourselves. I think it’s better to know that you don’t know, that way you can grow with the mystery as the mystery grows in you. Thousands of Wisconsinites volunteered their hearts out in 2024, re-elected Tammy Baldwin, but were crushed to fall short in the presidential contest. They got back up and helped Susan Crawford beat the world's richest man in 2025. And they never stopped. Tonight is Chris Taylor's win—and theirs.

Lately I've been telling people who pay me for talks to donate my fee to the St Louis Food Bank. These are hard times. In 2025, St Louis had a horrific tornado, a loss of federal aid, and now new SNAP cuts. Help St Louis folks eat and donate here: stlfoodbank.org/give-funds/

On Wednesday, the president showcased models for a grand new monument to be added to the gateway of the National Mall: a large, neoclassical arch topped with eagles and a gilded, winged figure.

It’s deeply encouraging to see footage of hostages reuniting with their families and to see Israeli forces withdrawing from Gaza. There are obviously many more steps to achieving a lasting peace but today’s developments should give us all a profound sense of hope.

Anti-Zionism is not antisemitism but saying this in response to a post about a Yom Kippur attack on a synagogue outside of Israel absolutely is antisemitism. Hope that clears this up.

Had the great pleasure of hearing Melissa and Badiucao in conversation at the @wendemuseum.bsky.social in Los Angeles. Educational, inspirational and thought provoking. Important voices in these moments.

It's usually "activists" in the US and "dissidents" in China and Russia — underscoring a difference between resistance in a democracy versus autocracies. Earlier this year @badiucao.bsky.social and I were on @msnbc.com with @velshi.com discussing dystopia, fascism. This clip feels apt to share now.

Back in the 1960s, the Smothers Brothers made fun of President Johnson and his policies many times on their television show. The president wrote them a letter in response.

Parents, be vigilant against PragerU instructional materials in your kids classrooms! It’s an extremist outfit masquerading as an educational nonprofit. It’s a far right wing response to PBS kid’s programming, it is propaganda designed to appeal to children and careless or bigoted educators. Beware!

The Trump administration has announced that the US will rewrite past climate reports, in a clear attempt to erase scientific history and undermine the consensus on human-caused climate change.

I am quoted here so let me be totally clear on my take: Jonathan Greenblatt has made a calculated choice to aid the consolidation of authoritarian power by the MAGA movement in exchange for the suppression of criticism of Israel. And the consequences for American Jews will be devastating.

I spoke with 40+ sources for a look inside the Anti-Defamation League. Here’s some of what I found. ADL’s gentle response to Elon Musk’s infamous salute was partially driven by his support of Israel. To ADL, that indicated he didn’t have “antisemitic tendencies.” (1/x) nymag.com/intelligence...

The situation in Gaza is unacceptable and antithetical to our Jewish values, and it’s incumbent on the Israeli government, the United States, and all parties to ensure that Gazans have access to food. Our full statement:
