If you ever meet the guy who'll spend $6k USD on an Android-based Sony Walkman machined from copper and then gold-plated, you slap him. You slap him out cold and then you drag him to the guillotines

Last month we lost our jobs. This month we made new ones. Introducing X BUTTON: an independent gaming network from three ex-IGN employees. A new weekly Nintendo podcast! A new weekly video game podcast! And that’s just the start, but we can’t do it without your help! www.patreon.com/cw/XButtonShow

@kagi.com I often get this "We haven't found anything" screen for search terms that, I mean, would definitely have something. Usually if I hit 'retry' a couple of times, it'll work, but... what gives?

Oof, the addition of gen AI as a 'feature', and pushing it so hard, is definitely poor form for a company that targets creators. But yeah... I confess I really want this thing. The price though 😬

Designed purely for sticker and photo printing, the new Cricut StickerPix range does its singular role extremely well. www.gadgetguy.com.au...

I’m not the first person to make this observation but the prevalence of nauseating ai-generated business logos means stuff like this hits CRAZY for me now

So the waiter said, "The plate is hot,” and I said, "I'll be the judge of that, haha." Anyhoo, I met a lot of nice people at the burn center.

On this day 108 years ago an 18 year old boy was killed in the basement of a house in France by an artillery shell. That boy was my Great Uncle George. It's a sad one, but it has some lovely bits too. He was known as the Baby of The Battalion, red more here yelpar.blogspot.com/2026/08/geor...

Cafés should have a sign you can put on your table that says "we haven't seen each other in months so we're gonna chat for ages before it occurs to us that we should look at the menu; please stop asking if we're ready to order, but definitely bring over a couple of flat whites in the meantime"

...and maybe something on the back that says "use of this sign will initiate a meter that charges by the minute" so you're not driving them broke in the process 😂

do they sell pillows for screaming all our rage and frustration into or do we just use the ones we've already got? I feel like our employers should have to provide a fresh pillow every few months or something

I love that my family's most enduring tradition has so far been me calling out "okay, screens off please" and my daughter calling back "one more minute please!" and me saying "one more minute" and then repeating "okay screens off please" 30 minutes later

Even the man stubbornly fights the man in Australia This is the KFC reaction to a postal worker getting fired after an unauthorised KFC break (other stuff too, but everyone likes a good tale)

Started watching Masters of the Universe with my son last night – why the fk is it so long?? We paused it with 45 minutes left because it was getting too late. I haven't seen such a poorly edited movie in forever. It's been fun overall, with some great scenes, but damn it needs to be cut way down.

In the early 1970s, Bruce Lee made nunchaku (nunchucks) cool — But the nunchucks craze coincided with something much bigger: the birth of a radical new Asian American identity. Listen to A History of the United States in 100 Objects on the 99% Invisible feed 👉 https://bit.ly/4fNZhPW

Absolutely loved #StarTrek SNW s04e01, but the idea of Pike not being monumentally famous for his role in that mindbogglingly pivotal piece of human history... sheeeeit. There's retconning and then there's retCONning y'know? Great ep tho.
