Hi! I’m Scott and I run Minerva Tabletop Games. I’m a board game designer, publisher and organiser for Playfest and Playtest UK. I design and publish small-box/microgames, especially those with solo play. My background is art and design and I enjoy integrating highly stylised artwork into my games.

"At a glance, Rune Rite doesn’t look all that dissimilar from any number of other flip-and-writes. Fortunately, designer Jason Katzwinkel makes one alteration that has major implications not only for this game, but for the entire format." #BoardGames #Kickstarter

Because I've been sick, I've been neglecting preview season. Not to worry, because today I'm covering three, that's right three, previews of interesting and strange board games! spacebiff.com/2026/10/22/r...

Our games will be demoing at Spiel this year. All 3 of them and it’s thanks to @thespiel.bsky.social Please add a visit to the Booth to your itinerary 😃. There are other Indie games you’d try from SouthAfrica and Brazil. Let me know if you will 😊

WHAT THE EVERLOVING FUCK IS THIS. This AI slop account just *made up* an incorrect picture of this game's box and contents. It took me 5 seconds to find a good publicity photo of the actual game. Humans work really hard to make games. Have some fucking respect. (Tideward by @connievdc.bsky.social)

Ayup #PortfolioDay! I’m Paul. Decided to teach myself to myself to draw at 47. That was 8 years ago, and I absolutely love it. It’s brought me so much joy :) I particularly like drawing tiny figures in huge landscapes.

YA BOY’S MADE IT, I’M IN A SEMI CO-OP COMIC.

New comic! SPIEL Essen hype is real, but not every publisher can be there in person. Let's spread some board-game love! ❤️ Which publisher do you wish you could give a little extra hype to this SPIEL? 👀 📜 You can read this week's blog post at: semicoop.com/comic/hype-and-seek/ #boardgames #spiel

I published Swatch in 2022 and Crumbs! in 2025, with more games in development. Crumbs! is a 1-2 player microgame about making sandwiches and fulfilling orders for a queue of hungry customers. Swatch is a 1-4 player drafting game about collecting and mixing colours to create new colour schemes.

I founded my playtest community in 2019 and Playfest London in 2022. We meet every week in South London to give feedback on designers games and support each other. Playfest London is an all-day convention that brings members of the public to designers games, with talks from guest speakers.

There are two wolves, a trolley, and infinite monkeys. They want you to buy this shirt. Get it for the local philosopher, linguist, or meme-sharer. Baffle your family and friends. This shirt does not scrute. danielsolis.threadless.com/designs/ther... #WeeklyTshirt #philosophy #linguistics

danielsolis.threadless.comThere are two wolves. One always lies. One controls the lever of a trolley track... Men's T-Shirt | Daniel Solis' T-Shirt ShopThere are two wolves. One always lies. One controls the lever of a trolley track... on Men's T-Shirt – Baffle your friends with every thought experiment, moral allegory, high-brow meme, and philosophy reference fire-hosed onto one inscrutable shirt. "There are two wolves. One always lies. One controls the lever of trolley track. They are in a state of superposition inside a box. Infinite monkeys at infinite typewriters are riding the trolley, going to a hotel with an infinite number of rooms. First, the trolley must travel halfway, but before that a quarter way, and so on. One wolf is “Kiki.” The other is “Bouba.” One salivates at the ringing of a bell. One wolf waits because it is promised two treats later. This bodes well for the more patient wolf’s future. One wolf is otherwise benevolent, but will punish anyone who knew of the box’s potential existence and did not directly contribute to its creation. That said, every part of this box has been replaced, so it may not be the same box from the beginning of the experiment. The box falls in the forest, but no experimenter is around to record the results. Wolves can see only shadows projected on the inner walls of the box, believing them to be reality. One obeys the experimenter’s orders to administer electric shocks to the monkey conducting the trolley. In truth, the conductor is actually an actor working on behalf of the experimenters. One wolf reports that a dress is black and blue. This is incorrect. The wolf is red/green colorblind. One of the infinite monkeys is able to imitate natural language writing well enough that one wolf cannot distinguish whether a transcript’s writer is a monkey or wolf. The transcript: “If one wolf testifies against the other, but the other does not, the one testifying will be set free from the box while the other remains.” One wolf cuts off all of its fur for money to buy a pocket watch as a Christmas present for the other wolf. However, that wolf has no pockets, nor can it read a clock, because it is a wolf. This is irony. One wolf chases the sun. One wolf chases the moon."

So, I need a job. I’ve done a lot of work in my 40 years. I’ve operated, I’ve managed, I’ve client supported. I’ve prototyped, playtested, and photographed. I’ve drummed and even made a couple of kids. Kept them alive.

We have learned of a website (which we are not linking to) that is charging people to pay to play knockoffs of popular board games like Catan, Wingspan, Agricola and more - different names, crappy art, same mechanics.

DISASTER! Due to our printer accidentally dropping a hyphen, everyone at Leder Games is frantically trying to design a "56 player" expansion for Kart.

Scott - Minerva 🦉 reposted

It seems that publishers can ask for their game to rightfully be taken down. “Aviary” / Wingspan has already been taken down. Please contact the proper publishers to request their games to be taken down. We’ll also need help identifying all of the games so the correct people can be informed.

It’s absolutely maddening that someone would take this much advantage of so many creative people against their consent and dare to charge money for it… I’m not a lawyer but this should be outright illegal.

Miniature wargaming has the opposite ‘problem’; they keep reducing the size of the table required and everyone gets angry (apart from all the people that had previously been excluded by excessive table size).

I'm designing a game. Thematically, you're a wizard, thirsty for an all powerful wish, only 4 orbs of power can grant. Mechanically, 1-4 players are flipping tiles, programming actions, managing domino magic and energy to fight those who stand in your way. Coming to Kickstarter mid October.

Traitors should be fully BotC rules. The whole series should just be unbroken footage of people saying stuff like 'listen, ping me & then if I die tonight you'll know I'm the Turnip Jester. We know they're safe because they weren't the Sneezer I'd be bogeyed right now' with no explanation

Two staples of Playfest are our guest speaker and the games raffle. This year we were treated to a fantastic talk from @jameswallis.bsky.social about designing SE!ZE with Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc and attending its glamorous launch in Milan, setting the standard for board game releases 😂 🎲✂️

I'm still not sure what an "agony aunt" is, but the vibes are all warmth and playfulness for me. I appreciate that they get into the sticky questions around play instead of just profiling games. So, I'd give this a try even if you're burned out on other bg podcasts.
