It’s just so appalling and enraging how casual and commonplace this has become. I’m out of words.

The elections are on next Tuesday, and so much is at stake, including the soul of the Democratic Party when it comes to transgender people. I am asking you to leave a very small number of races blank in which a Democrat has embraced extreme anti-trans hate. I make my case here.

"Trans people are a tiny group with no power" This isn't true, and I hope my trans readers can internalize this. You are more powerful than you think. Trans and gender expansive people are 2.34% of the US population in the latest survey. That is more than enough to swing a race.

Being a Dem doesn’t give you a pass on transphobic fear-mongering. For too long, Dems have used the “this election is critical” rallying cry. Fuck that.

I don’t think this bill would prevent states from requiring marketplace plans cover gender affirming care — it would just not allow the federal government to define it as an essential health benefit. Such states would either have to eat the cost themselves or make insurance companies eat it.
