Netflix just alerted me that the BLINDSPOTTING show starring Jasmine Cephas Jones is coming on Oct. 20 so now I am alerting you all because it is SO good.

The top 3 are obvious (The Wire, Breaking Bad, Mad Men), so those aside, I will fight for these picks until the end. 11-15: Arrested Development, Band of Brothers, Andor, Bojack Horseman, Atlanta.

EXCLUSIVE: Gazetteer has uncovered that Waymo vehicles got more than 8,300 parking tickets in San Francisco between January 2025 and July 19 of this year. We dug into the most common infractions and ticket locations in the city (cough, Fisherman's Wharf). Plus, thoughts from an AV expert:

“My first day on the job, I fucked up.” That’s the lede to this CJR account of my 4 months in Utah, where I worked as a junior editor. I wanted to see what’s changed since i left local journalism a few decades ago. A lot of things are different. But not everything. www.cjr.org/first_person...

You should read Sami’s piece. I hope if we all continue the pressure on the Giants front office to properly apologize and make amends, maybe they’ll stop hemorrhaging fans and their precious dollars, but the boycott should and will continue until they make a genuine effort to make things right

if we are going to do a whole Field of Dreams game in a cornfield we should also have a Sandlot game where a big dog runs around and chases the players

Javi knows. This is spot on. These dynamics, plus shorter seasons/shorter overall runs... it's all bad for television, just bad for the form all around. Anyway, thread:

i believe that the the entire "binge watch" model of releasing television series is based on a faulty premise, and that faulty premise has significantly devaluated television as an art form. stick with me on this one...

Anyone who's lived in SF for more than a few years knows this to be true. It's insane how Muni can't figure out the concept of "a shuttle" for big events and anticipate the obvious bottlenecks. Even Giants post-games are a mess.

sfist.comSF Muni Should Admit They Can Not Handle Large Crowds at High-Demand EventsThe fiasco that was the public transit offering for Saturday night's fireworks in San Francisco did not need to be such a fiasco, and it was clearly a case of over-promising on the part of the SFMTA.

it's pretty funny that the World Cup has sensors that detect the ball's rotation, acceleration, and location every .002 seconds (not exaggerating, the actual tech specs of the sensor) but also the game gets to the end and the ref says "ok I think 9 more minutes ... maybe more if I feel like it"

My latest streaming column: It's a slow month, but looking forward to a new season of Apple's "Silo," Disney's "X-Men '97" and S2 of Hulu's crazy violent "A Shop for Killers," along with a binge of "The Agency" & "The Bureau" on P+. www.marketwatch.com/story/heres-...

marketwatch.comHere’s what’s worth streaming in July 2026 on Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max and moreWhy it’s a good month to save on streaming, despite the return of ‘Enola Holmes’ to Netflix and ‘Silo’ to Apple

This sounds like the exact kind of thing Ethan Hunt and his team would run around the world in an effort to prevent.

Lots of rainbows spotted tonight, and zero signs that anyone cared. People are not their governments. And most people are decent people. "We respect all of the LGBT people," Iranian striker Mehdi Taremi said. "It's not about us. We are here to play football. We respect all of those guys."

Political ideology is the strongest predictor of Messi-Ronaldo preference. Authoritarians who like short-form video are more likely to think Ronaldo is the GOAT.
