I largely stopped using X in November 2024. I keep an account there to research the far right (they're all active there, for some reason...) I'm deleting all of my tweets now - Private Eye reports they will now be used to train Grok, Musk's perverted AI monster. Whether you like it or not. Grim.

What an admirably clear statement from the Jewish Leadership Council, especially when all of those involved must surely have been dealing with so many other urgent challenges in safety, security and grief + shock today before having this further divisive and distracting intervention to address too.

Can we all agree Jasmine Crockett is a total badass? 👏

Acyn@acyn.bsky.social

Crockett: When you I say you are the least qualified in the history of the FBI, it’s real… Patel: That’s false Crockett: I didn’t ask you a question. I want to talk about why you're a failure and honestly we need to tell you, bye, bye

Political violence and threats are not the answer. This is a watershed moment — we can choose to stay silent and live in fear, or we can choose to be loud for peace and compassion. We must work together to stop this crisis, and it should start from the top with the President.

The Post and Matt Viser are suggesting that 22 yrs ago someone impersonated Donald Trump in response to a request from Ghislaine Maxwell to Trump and created a fake card to embarrass him 22 yrs later when he would be President. I'm not going to dignify this nonsense with anything but laughter

Officially, Farage has declared two residential properties in Folkestone & Hythe and Tandridge. In reality, his property portfolio appears to include at least four homes: His family home in Downe. Two Kent seaside houses (via his company). Alleged Clacton residence held under his partner’s name.

So how many front pages do we think this story will be on tomorrow?

Jim Pickard@pickardje.bsky.social

“Farage claimed last year to have “bought a house” in his constituency but the property is actually owned in the name of his partner, meaning he legally avoided higher-rate stamp duty on the purchase of an additional home – given he already owns other properties” www.theguardian.com/politics/202...

The Guardian is discussing a supposed crisis for Rachael Reeves today, when no such crisis exists. Whether she meets her fiscal rules is irrelevant. Poverty, poor housing, and suffering children are the realities they should be talking about. Why aren't they? www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2025/06...

Well worth a read this. Sunday Times has a 600 word puff piece on Looking for Growth today that seems to have forgotten to mention Dominic Cummings or GB News….

Blue Monday is a piece of crap pseudo science originally part of a travel company's press release to sell holidays. Can we all try to avoid rewarding marketeers, using this term, which tries to sell goods by parasiting on the back of real mental health campaigns.

Oh would you look at that? So the Tories didn’t want to pay the compensation, so continued to kick the can down the road and are now expressing moral indignation on the same issue to have a political swipe at a new government. Beneath contempt.

Jim Pickard@pickardje.bsky.social

🚨🚨 in case you’re wondering why the Tories didn’t implement the Alexis Jay report into child sex abuse we reveal tonight that her proposal for a compensation scheme for victims would cost £5-10bn according to preliminary Whitehall estimates www.ft.com/content/cef1...

As another #farmersprotest takes place today in London, I thought it would be useful to create a "damage to UK farming" timeline, from 2016 to 2024: 2016 Tories Boris Johnson & Michael Gove win the Brexit referendum, meaning UK will leave the Common Agricultural Policy. No farmer protests. 1/9

Here’s a short story about who wins and loses from the status quo of our inheritance tax rules - and about, what you might politely call ‘sub-optimal’ journalism🧵

You are up to date.
