DINOv2 has never seen a caption, and Qwen3 has never seen an image. We still aligned their embedding spaces without a single image-caption pair. It even works when the images and the captions come from different datasets. Project page: dominik-schnaus.github.io/unpaired-rosetta ⬇️

This stochastic parrot argument is dead. Hes bereft of life. He is no more, hes shuffled off the mortal coil and joined the choir invisible! The only reason the argument keeps being brought up is because Emily Bender nailed it to its perch! This is an ex stochastic parrot!

a world where academia has been strangled and significant mathematical results beyond what was already known by the early 21st century are a commodity tightly controlled by a small cartel of theorem vendors; advanced proofs are variously treated as trade secrets or matters of national security

They discovered that reasoning models produce fractals when asked to solve hard problems. You can use nonlinear dynamics to probe the thinking processes of recurrent depth models on Sudoku, mathematics, and even ARC-AGI

We will give one banked reset for every day you don't have access to Astra on your paid ChatGPT plan, starting today. Team is moving mountains to give access as fast as we can. First one will land in ~ 3 hours. There is still time to create your account if you don't have one.

I would like to register my objection to the entire concept of "this social network has zero real-world value other than the discussions." Like, what is society even doing

I write a job posting with *sniff* AI, you respond with a résumé also written with AI and so on and so on, and while the Application happens, we are free to *touches nose* apply ourselves to whatever we want...

this whole demilitarized zone of "I find your job posting with my agent, you write your job posting with your agent, but I can't use AI on the application itself" sure is interesting.

There were several bugs. They've been squashed. The main symptom was anisotropy. Particles favoring axis-aligned movement or preferring +X to -X. Claude found them, given my qualitative reports. I even thought the final fix sounded like a reach, but it worked beautifully

Open social platforms are touching the interests of big players. These attacks should be a call to action to double down efforts to make them more resilient and reach more people. And to be patient and appreciate the work so many great folks are pouring into recovering our sovereignty on the web.

Mastodon.social is being DDoS right now. That's bad. It was bad when Bluesky was DDoSed. It's bad when open social platforms are attacked. status.mastodon.social

Absolutely incredible. NASA Astronaut Reid Wiseman, who commanded Artemis II, took this footage from the far side of the Moon with his iPhone. Watch with sound on.
