I keep considering the Dressmaker game.. I sew my own clothing in real life, and I play and create games, so it seems like a perfect fit.. Not sure why I hesitate. Fun watching non-sewing folk discover the joy of creative fashion expression tho.

Finally starting to feel better and to catch up on some responsibilities The largest project consuming my life at the moment is creating an icon library for my non-verbal son's assisted communication device. School's pecs pictures were really bad, replacing them all.. many recent hours with Krita.

It's a lovely real world application of art tho, distilling every concept into a 1k square icon. I'm brushing off old skills and equipment, things that seemed frivolous now suddenly useful. Any silly hobby or skill might be a meaningful foundation in the future.

Got run over by RL, haven't had the time or heart to look at anything art or game related in a while. I could rant about my troubles, but the world has plenty of that. Hopefully Ill be back to sculpting and coding soon.

Progress peek on my polearm... all of the geometry is original and done myself in Blender, the textures are vanilla DayZ materials (as this will be a mod) Will start on the metal/pipe version next, then we'll see about getting all these proxy slots and hidden selections to work properly #b3d #dayz

Taking a dev break to learn DayZ modding, haven't done much this past week beyond reading+videos. Might touch blender today. Decided on my first project tho- Im going to rework the spears into a proper polearm system that any game blade attaches to.

I could keep messing with these wheels forever (they're built entirely via geometry nodes) - but at some point I have to call it Good Enough For Now and move on to the next headache.

Beginning to set up my own little DayZ server.. husband is already despairing my choices. No zombies, no guns, no cars.. will add horses, leatherworking, few other good PvE mods, then start adding new assets and craft recipes.

Working on player detailing today.. the dish spins around. Next up will be proper wheels, solar panels, then the robotic arms. Nothing motivates me more to work on art side than the pressing need to be buried in code. Procrastination but still progress. #gameart #indiedev #b3d #upbge

Seamlessly loops every 10 seconds. But follow any dot and you will be watching for over an hour before it returns to its starting position.

Lately every day I hop onto #upbge and take a stab at making a star background I'm actually happy with.. It's been many days of not saving any progress, but I think we're getting closer. Sometimes it's the most simple tasks that turn into indecisive slogs, a million flavors of not-quite-right.

Part of my silence has been the Texas age verification nonsense.. whilst I am certainly old enough, I won't be giving my id away to a 3rd party just to talk to ya'll, sorry. Right now Texans can access our accounts again without age checks, but that could return.. At which point I'm only on Discord.

This was a test from when I was developing my gas giant stuff a few months back. In order to create larger storms, I needed the ability to warp the coordinate space around an arbitrary point. #Blender #TechArt #Shader

Inferior social media reminded me today that 5 years ago I was at my peak in asset creation. I began 3D art life in Dreams, on Playstation, and was one of the most prolific asset artists in the community.. used to make a new object or scene pretty much every day. Gods I miss being productive.

I haven't been posting recently, but still chipping at my game in UPBGE. Added the first (fully procedural geometry node) plant today. Still playing with all of the art side of things, but making progress on spawn logic and randomization. #gamedev #indiedev #b3d

It’s really useful, especially when there’s few other things to provide a solid sense of scale. Mine is this shady and flat guy bsky.app/profile/rune...

Rune Skovbo Johansen@runevision.bsky.social

I needed to get proportions in my game sorted out, so I spawned these reference humans along the paths. This helped me better be able to tell if they look right compared to the trees and environment, and whether the player camera height also looks right compared to them. #GameDev #ProcGen

It wasn't long before I realized *exactly* where I can leverage this new-found knowledge. Fired up a quick test in Desmos, and holy shit. 😤☁️ #gamedev #indiedev

Duuuuude, you can even combine smooth max and smooth min with negative lambda to get effects like this. Mind blown. I previously would have had to do like 50 extra steps with other expensive operations just to achieve similar results. #gamedev #indiedev

Also still spending a great many hours enjoying #Enshrouded I wish I had some friends to co-op with, as always, but it's very fun as a solo game too. Base building features are very nice, its like Valheim-x-Minecraft with the voxel capabilities.. Working on my first proper home now

Reworking the movement+camera system for my game.. going from a fixed-north arcade style to a traditional 3rd person driving setup It's taking a few days to repair everything that the swap broke, but results should be cleaner faster code with more immersive and intuitive ux vibes.

Nice.. bit clunky to use on the phone, but handy new reference for sculpting plants in blender To access the archive directly: data.kew.org

Digitising an entire collection of 7.4 million specimens is truly just nuts. (And I say this as someone who in her teens digitised a *lot* of natural history specimens.) What a great resource for science. www.nature.com/articles/d41...

I don't take many pictures, especially of myself- but I figure my kids might be curious some day so here's the rare update. Never been one for makeup, filters, editing, dye to cover greys, etc... Life is too short, be comfortable in your own skin.

Got our annual onion crop braided yesterday I've now made 5 onion braids in my lifetime, and the 5th finally turned out quite well! Maybe it wont take a decade of harvests to master this new skill Love the homestead feel they give the house for a few months

Dear everyone making those short blender tip videos, stop beginning with sloppy "newb" examples of bad versions of whatever you're trying to teach Show what you want at the beginning, I'm not wasting my seconds watching clumsy mistakes on purpose, hoping you eventually have a good point. #b3d

A meteor striking a live volcano is exactly the kind of portent the ancients would be losing their minds over

A livestream of a volcano in the Philippines captured a meteor crashing to Earth today. What are the odds? Mayon Volcano, Location: Albay, Luzon, Philippines

'Walk softly and leave no trace' crossed with 'If you have nothing good to say, say nothing at all' Polite obedience training from childhood resulting in me being very quiet and very alone for long stretches at a time, barely attached to reality.

Using a metal knitting needle to hold up my hair today, feels very much like being armed with a dagger. Time to bring back Victorian stabby hair pins for sure

After a much needed break I am back into working on my little game daily. It will be much more fun when the math and code skeleton is done and I can just play with the art side of things.... Python/node system progress feels like accomplishments, but makes for boring screenshot update posts.

Wow, how problematic was that balloon ball pit that it got its own FAQ entry with industry lingo term? How many meetings do you think they've said the word "hyperfrequency"? Im clearly still alive and doing important things.

Coeus devlog update day 20: crater scatters and physics added in Each planet will be endlessly scrolling procedural texture and objects (with samples to find). Made entirely in UPBGE (Blender's game engine branch) #gamedev #indiedev #indiegames #gameart #upbge #b3d #python

Ready for another Coeus progress peek? Lots of time spent getting all these wheels behaving, almost ready for fun things #gamedev #indiedev #b3d #upbge #python #procgen
