New in iOS 27.2: com_apple_MobileAsset_Vision_AgeEstimation Seems to be a CoreML model that takes a 128x128px image called "facecrop" and outputs an age number. What could go wrong?

We're still trying to figure out the timing of events but there's a chance the reason my morning tea tasted weird was that my mom washed the glass water bottles with bleach.

Every time there is a broad cybersecurity problem I'm annoyed that we don't have a single place to collect and centralize all the relevant memes. Maybe I should do something about that.

Here's my RSA public key modulus (a product of two primes), you can't factor it into the primes to get the private key without doing brute force, which would take forever! 167390358494784493930220849241063454088523974918568842844562156944914418969390011438073558262658715438689072339997445

we've identified another vulnerability leak. now hackers on the dark web have identified your bad knee and that weird thing your shoulder does if you sleep on it wrong. there's no patch available for this, they're now just keenly aware you feel like your career has stalled out

I had to take down all PHP websites on @kde.org. The PHP vulnerability seems serious :/ Phabricator is down, wikis are down, KDE Identity is down. Identity-based logins on other websites should still work.

I turned PHP off and I'm still getting 10 requests per second like before I turned it off, except they're all getting errors now. Oh, it's all scrapers.

some asshole decided to completely leak the deets of the exploit instead of waiting 14 more hours for the responsible disclosure/patch window to end. researched via ai of course

It's seemingly impossible to have a discussion with an AI bro without them getting Uber defensive and engaging in every single logical fallacy under the sun then doubling down or running away when you call them out on it.

saw a great tip about using a dog training clicker to mark where you mess up a take in an audio recording, because it generates a nice clean pattern in the waveform that makes it easy to spot works great, but my dog is going nuts

I'm coughing and Extremely Tired. It seems impossible to buy covid self-tests in this stupid country anymore so I may have to go to a lab to get tested tomorrow. I doubt I caught something at #Akademy itself, the timing of symptoms doesn't add up. But catching something on the flight back, maybe…

If it was hardware degradation or overheating or something like that, then even if a user still has signal and installs the SW update to prevent damage, there would be a chance some damage already happened.

But Apple says if you still have signal and install the update you're fine, and if you already lost signal you need a new phone. Maybe the baseband has its own non-volatile storage and it's getting irrecoverably corrupted? That could match the symptoms better than hardware degradation...

I bought Graz fridge magnets to gift my mom and grandma. Now I went to another souvenir shop and found a magnet with an *owl*. Change of plans; that's the magnet for my mom.

it didn't spill to bsky cuz almost none of ya care about computer touching but fedi’s reaction to kde not having a perfectly rehearsed community manager type response about random shit not under their control was some absolute “what the fuck is wrong with you” moment

Since a dev shared his game concept last month, Steam has been flooded with vibe-coded slop clones. This is what "democratising creativity" actually looks like. Even with AI, your ideas are worthless as long as they can be plagiarised at scale. Gen AI was designed for plagiarism, NOT creativity.

Apple keeps playing musical chairs assigning features to the seven ways to use the Apple Watch physical buttons: Digital Crown press / long press / double press, side button press / long press / double press, and both buttons simultaneously.

App Switcher Returns in watchOS 27.2 Beta With New Launch Gesture

macrumors.comApp Switcher Returns in watchOS 27.2 Beta With New Launch GestureApple has apparently listened to user feedback and brought back the App Switcher screen in the latest watchOS 27.2 beta, but accessing it is a little different than before. In watchOS 26 and earlier versions, a double press of the Digital Crown would bring up the App Switcher, where you could easily switch to the last-used app and view and open other recently used apps. You could also swipe left on a misbehaving app to force close it. In watchOS 27, the Digital Crown double-press gesture is now reserved for Apple's upcoming new Live Rewind AI feature, so it no longer brings up the App Switcher screen. There were concerns that this meant the App Switcher would be gone for good, but Apple has reinstated it in the second watchOS 27.2 beta, released yesterday. The gesture for opening it has changed, though. As shown in the video below, you now access the App Switcher by pressing and holding the bottom of the screen while you're in an app. Apple has brought back the App Switcher! On watchOS 26 and earlier, you could access the App Switcher by double-clicking the Digital Crown, then turning the Digital Crown to navigate through your recently used apps. You could also swipe left on an app and tap the "X" button to... pic.twitter.com/G5fa0TeTR9— (@limpless_skelly) September 22, 2026 Apple says Live Rewind, which which offers a transcript of what was said in the last 15 seconds, will be available later this year on Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4.Related Roundups: watchOS 26, watchOS 27Related Forum: Apple Watch This article, "App Switcher Returns in watchOS 27.2 Beta With New Launch Gesture" first appeared on MacRumors.com Discuss this article in our forums
