Reminds me of how important Repeal Shield was during the 2018 referendum. The amount of mental space that was freed up by just ignoring the anti-choicers instead of trying to argue with them. It let us focus on putting forward our own points
I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

Things that would actually help is reducing the cost of living and helping small local businesses instead of allowing giant corporations from having monopolies and causing them to go out of business. There are some medical stuff I fully can't get in the EU because the shops don't exist anymore
The EU will from 1 November slap a €2 handling fee on packages from outside the 27-nation bloc in a bid to curb the influx from China rte.ie/b/1596837

I assume everyone who wrote about the hospital bike shed in their columns and talked about the hospital bike shed on their radio shows and tweeted about the hospital bike shed on their Nazi owned micro blogging app are very excited to discuss this

A bike shed for Kerry hospital - which takes cars off the road and results in cleaner air - became a national scandal earlier this year, amid media and politician-driven furore over "costs". Thank you @pantibliss.bsky.social and @tinydbass.bsky.social for highlighting the hypocrisy! (Thread)

While Ireland is at risk from the impending bursting of the AI bubble, it has not benefitted much from AI's growth. The investment happening here is producing little that can be taxed, and few jobs. It's virtually all cost and no benefit to us as a country. www.irishtimes.com/opinion/2026...
It's all turning into an undifferentiated political grey goo, isn't it?

They re-elected Trump bad US! But there's Trumps everywhere all over Europe Putin's a Trump UK Conservatives are Trumps UK Labour's a Trump rump Ireland is run by a pack of cross-party Trumpadáns: pro fossil fuel pro big tech pro money in politics anti regulation anti public services that's Trumpism
Obviously I want the utmost damage to Trump in the midterms, for Congress to constrain him & for a Democrat president in a couple years time. But honestly something broke in my relationship w America when Trump won the second time. I can't imagine feeling excited for an American president again.
