This is such a fantastic photo: "The Witches' Tea Party" but I want to use it to explain the origin of the tall, pointy witches hat. The real story of this photo: These are residents at the Hospital of the Holy & Undivided Trinity: an almshouse in Castle Rising, Norfolk, England established 1610.

Remember that unprecedentedly large, mass lay-offs are the business model of AI companies. Their "value" lies in the assumption AI will replace human labour at a scale never seen before. Billions are invested solely on that premise.

On LinkedIn, someone just spoke about an "agentic credit card" that trawls the internet and makes purchases for you. Sounds better than Musk's idea of just giving your credit card to his AI, but my god! Anything to increase consumption.

The next Nat/ACT/NZF government will apply a scorched earth approach to public services, institutions and assets, claiming that re-election indicates popular support for the social vandalism clearly on display in their first term. The next iteration will be our own little version of Trump 2. #NZpol
