sir, I worry a subset of the furries are reinventing astrology instead of working on themselves. Yes. *sigh* Yes, sir, again. I know. Yes. No, I don't think that's necessary but the diplomatic corps will need to be notified.

I know there's a lot going on but I feel it should probably be more of an above-the-fold story that members of Congress released a thoroughly documented report directly accusing the president of the United States of being a serial rapist.

iPhone voice transcription Q: is it me, or is the dictation setting in Notes a completely different (and much worse) tool than the automatic transcription that happens when you make a voice note? I can see how this could end up happening and potentially never get resolved, but afaict...

Over 2,000 alumni from Vivek’s all-boys catholic high school in Cincinnati have signed and circulated a petition demanding that he pull the ad and issue a public apology for “ignoring the moral responsibilities” of his Jesuit education. I think he’s pretty cooked.

Yep, when I titled the first chapter in my book “War Machines” I wasn’t being hyperbolic. And even tech workers themselves have long recognized this—for example, take this 1971 pamphlet from the group Computer People for Peace:

Do you get a full night's sleep but wake up feeling like death? Does your whole body feel off in ways you can't explain? Research signs of Sleep Apnea. Get a sleep test. You can't diagnose it yourself, cuz you sleepin'.

The online part was important too, of course. We collectively decided to not interact with any right wing post or comment ever. Trolls and bots lost their power. This is a good lesson.

"Specialists" are gonna focus on how we fought the algorithm, but a huge part of it was actually about people being on the streets educating others and changing their opinions. News media refused to tell people about the crimes and intentions of the bolsonaro family, so we did that ourselves.

This report is genuinely overwhelming, in terms of the evidence both against Trump and of a ham-fisted cover-up. Including one instance in which Ghislaine Maxwell was actually about to mention one of Trump's young accusers and Todd Blanche told her to stop talking. The media response is "yawn."

I think the loss of student power in university decisions is going to go down in history as one of the retrospectively inciting events of *motions grandiosly* all this

i mean realistically if I wanted to table flip a lost election as an American autocratic dictator I'd simply call an article V convention immediately after the midterm election while everyone's burnt out and a good chunk of each state leg would be brand new and naive, but I'm built different so yk

there's zero slack in the system (you can tell bc the rate of petty fighting amongst ourselves is spiking again) and a convention would burn so much more of that slack no one has

"keep an eye on enough seats for either party to call an article V constitutional convention because the median voter would desecrate the spirit of the Constitution with no thought to the future regardless of party" has been a thing I've been thinking about since 2024

the chances of this happening are like 0 but that fact that it's probably not going to happen just makes me so disappointed in the think tanks on their side. like, really?

thinking about how the US fracturing hard instead of soft would necessitate NATO-and-equivalents level crash intervention to secure the now half-county worth of, effectively, loose nuclear weapons (but unusable by the non-presidential side of split or buyers without rebuilding)

to be clear I don't think it will happen but i think a lot of the scale of the potential problems get swept under the rug as being American exceptionalism instead even though they're places that it... really is exceptional and that's the problem.

in a game I play, you have 2 implant slots per loadout. there's a lot of great competition for those slots (like 8 good ones per class) so it's often a hard choice however, one increases your jump height by half at max rank (before that only increasing crouch speed) and this adds unforseen bonuses

1.5x jump height means doorways are suddenly "cover" because you can jump across s doorway so only your legs are visible in the door, and legs only take 0.8x damage it's really funny how useful it is. you can jump over a mine right as you set it off and take no damage if you jumped while sprinting

crouching reduces your cone of fire (an area centered around the middle of your crossgairs where there's RNG and gets bigger with movement or firing, shrinks as you stop firing) which means full speed crouched movement means better accuracy for you, and no headshot muscle memory for them

(at the expense of random body shots potentially turning into headshots for the enemy just thanks to the sampling algorithm being flawed and weighting towards the center of the screen)

you could have an implant that reduces explosion damage by half. but unless you're dodging missiles, all explosions are going to be ground hits. explosion damage falls off with range. if you jump and the grenade or mine is not directly below you, you take less than half damage with that height
