Insultingly WE pay for TEP propaganda ads, actors & ‘updates.’ Why? They want MORE rate increases from us for dirty power for #projectblue -for billions in profit 😡 As Tucson’s skyline gets ugly & TEP refuses to upgrade OUR infrastructure, will they also coerce our rates to climb 267%, like in VA?

One of our members, a TEP customer, lost power yesterday from about 6pm to 1:45am. Anyone else? If they end up powering this data center they're so in love with, will it end up being even longer next time?

Here in southern Arizona alone we're looking at at ~3GW of new energy demand from planned data centers, more than the entire city of Tucson consumes. Our utility companies' energy mix is mostly fracked gas, and you're sadly mistaken if you think they're going to meet the new demand with renewables.

Hey can we stop pretending that we can meet dozens and dozens of gigawatts of new energy demand with renewables on the timeline these tech bros want them? It's just not possible. And also these AI data centers have negative social benefit.

We could also just not power them at all. LLMs have no real social benefits, they exist solely for fraud, misinformation, and spam. It's a waste of energy and money and only serves to further enrich the worst people, so why even entertain the notion they're worth supporting?

This internationalist frame should be part of political education and public facing commentary so that anyone in the US opposing a site in their locality will stay activated to oppose it in other places as well.”
