Critical thinking isn’t about being contrarian or skeptical for the sake of it—it’s about intellectual humility, being willing to change your perspective when presented with strong evidence, and asking questions to ensure ideas are supported by facts.

I am disabled and have an accessible parking permit. When I arrive at work, the 10 accessible spaces are full. My federal government employer tells me they meet the minimum requirements for accessible parking, so sucks to be me. There are 380 first come, first served parking spots at my building.

PM Carney’s bill C-39 will tip the scales in employers’ favour. Without a right to strike, employers have little reason to bargain in good faith. Weakening workers’ rights means weaker wages, less secure workplaces and less job security.

Gander town council invited Hoekstra to attend the 9/11 ceremony. Gander’s explanation: “An invitation to attend this event is not an endorsement of any individual, their comments or their political views.” “September 11 is bigger than politics, personalities or titles.”. Fuck that shit.

at the commemoration has publicly characterized Canadian resistance to U.S. pressure as “anti-American,” defended Trump’s complaints that Canada is “nasty,” amplified Trump’s 51st-state rhetoric, and described the possibility of Canadian annexation as something that would be a “great discussion.”

Those aren’t political disagreements over something like tax policy. They’re directly about the relationship between the two countries. What happened in Gander in 2001 is precisely why the Canada-U.S. relationship deserves a representative who treats Canada and its sovereignty with respect.

Hoekstra isn’t being invited because he was stranded at Gander in 2001. He isn’t being invited because he participated in the relief effort. And he isn’t simply another American coming to remember what happened. He’s being invited because of his political role as the United States ambassador.

Saying that “this isn’t about personalities or titles” is somewhat difficult to reconcile with the reason he received the invitation in the first place. Gander’s 9/11 story represents an extraordinary act of friendship by Canadians toward Americans. Yet the person officially representing the US

My only non negotiable is that I start my day feeding the 80 street dogs in Thailand. I've so many bigger things to do for the charity and scaling up but this is the part I'll never give up. It's one hour of the day but it keeps my heart full and depression at bay!

As a Federal Public Servant, the French version aligns much more closely with my philosophy and personal experience. Choice has to go both ways. Some employees need remote work. Others need access to the workplace. Flexibility means accommodating both, not assuming one model fits everyone.

Not all roles can be done remotely, and that’s a reality. But that doesn’t mean flexibility shouldn’t exist where it is possible. The goal shouldn’t be identical treatment. It should be making sure employees can work effectively based on their role and their needs.

As someone who has had to fight to be able to work IN THE BUILDING, I can confirm that access does not always exist in practice. Policies need to recognize real needs and real barriers in both directions.

The English version reads as advocacy for a model, whereas the French version speaks to choice. So depending on which language someone sees, the message shifts from “remote work is the answer” to “you should be able to work where it suits you”.

This kind of mismatch can create confusion and frustration because Anglophone audiences may feel pushed toward a single solution and Francophone audiences are being sold flexibility. This inconsistency weakens the overall messaging.

Remote work is work. This is back to office. Filling the pockets of those who own office buildings. Ensuring that we consume more gas due to commutes. It's not about productivity. This is not about getting work done. It's about greed. Demand better. Repurpose buildings. Keep working at home.

Disabled people are not expendable. The elderly are not expendable. Children are not expendable. Worth should never be tied to economic productivity. If we protected the most vulnerable in society, everyone would be better off.
