This was the Greenbank to Meadows Quiet Route this morning. At least the drivers aren’t speeding and ignoring the Give Way road markings when they’re at a standstill.

Maintenance is halted until my last delivery of components today. In the meantime I've left my new son reading a copy of @railnatter.uk Gareth Dennis's best selling book How the Railways Will Fix the Future, which he describes as "seminal" and "essential reading"

Fun thing is I've convinced my bike mechanic friends that I am but a damsel in distress when it comes to bikes as it helps elicit free advice, so when they see things like this they freak out like, no it's chill I built an ebike I know how all the bits slot together

Don't ask me about branded parts or anything like that I tune out as soon as Kalvin Jhones Park Tool begins saying things like "Campagnolo uses a proprietary system which involves 5 and three quarter half teeth triple lock reverse proxy Supra Connectors®™..." Like cool ok I'm not bothering thanks

Absolutely rancid table in that last image that completely evades the purpose of an integrated transport system and / or specifying a network component based on function, opting instead for buzzwords. Op costs: wtf trams are orders of magnitude cheaper to run Vs a compatible capacity bus service

Bus Vs tram for capacity routes: Capex: irrelevant; a tram would make it back Flexibility: irrelevant, high capacity corridors link into more 'flexible' modes. Flexibility reads as unreliability (where is my buss today?) Scalability: ability to scale up is also ability to scale down, no permeance

A bus. And yet it takes decades to talk about. Endless reports and consultations. A bus.

you can lease a brand new R5 electric with 1 month deposit for only £330 a month. Insurance might take that to 36. Fuel costs charging at home would minimal. That's halved his monthly costs with a fancy brand new vehicle. If you're earn 22k & drive something ridiculous you deserve no help at all

Man who spends 40% of his Gross income - £750 a month - on his car 'wants a cut to fuel duty'. Even at current prices his fuel costs for his commute are no more than £120 a month. he wants to look at why he's spending and £620 every month? What's he driving?

A new survey of 1,000 American adults found that the strongest supporters of transgender sports bans are not the people who admire women most: they are the people who hold the most hostile views about women. www.helenwebberley.com/news/transge...

Just her mere presence working in a hospital – not her even actually treating anyone – is a crime worthy of reporting on the other side of the world. Reasonable concerns.

Viscerally upset by the Beth Upton stuff. They won't be satisfied until they have hounded a woman – who the tribunal explicitly found had done nothing wrong – to her death. Btw the "incident" in Australia is that a patient worried she *might* be forced to be treated by her. She of course wasn't.

People abroad don't understand the level of interference Meta & bots had in these elections. 5 days before the election a far-right politician posted a fake news video that got 157 MILLION views on Instagram in 24hs. For reference, GTA 6's reveal trailer got 90 million views on YouTube in 24hs.

It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

Found it genuinely moving to see that and oh my god are we deprived of the merest inclusion over here in the UK that something as small and simple as that would seem unspeakably radical

Robyn Veitch reposted

I know absolutely nothing about Lula except that i saw someone share a clip on insta of him in celebration kissing a trans woman politician on the cheek and oh my god is that a radical act for a politician in 2026 so lets fucking go

I see that bluesky, in its intimate paternalistic wisdom, has decided to label this as "intolerance". Joke website, up Lula, men stop voting for fascists

Brazil going the way of South Korea. Basically around the world women are desperately trying to keep power out of the hands of incredibly stupid fascistic grifters while men keep trying to hand it over. Men are an embarrassing cringe gender.

waymo representative sent to a city of minneapolis event can’t give a real answer about their vehicles utilizing bike lanes or not when this is a known PR issue for the company and we are one of the top biking cities in the country it’s talk of safety for the people inside the waymo only

Wedge LIVE!™@wedge.live

I asked the Waymo rep whether they allow their cars to park in bike lanes. She said they do, depending on city regulations. Would they comply if the city prohibits parking in bike lanes? She said she would have to get back to me on that. LAWLESS!

In fact, fossil fuel companies have no need to advertise their wares directly to consumers at all - they can rely on sales of cars, flights and gas boilers etc for that. Oil & gas major ads are exclusively about maintaining social license and positive brand associations in the consumer subconscious

Leo Murray@crisortunity.bsky.social

Westminster station -the portal to British government, passed through by 1000s of policymakers every day - almost always offers a good illustration of why TfL & @london.gov.uk need to curb fossil fuel ads on our tubes, trains & buses. BP isn’t advertising here to sell consumers more petrol directly

This sounds utopian rn tbh, imagine transphobia going back to casual disdaine as opposed to "we should do the hunger games 24/7 and just put all the trans people in there"

Ok but it's blood money?? Why is there so much focus on 'we should have profited from this' as opposed to 'if you do not wholeheartedly oppose this you are not living in reality'

You miss the point entirely. Death by car is entirely preventable, but isn't. The number of deaths is outrageous. Wars are protested. Guns are protested. But the greatest killer that is not protested is the number of senseless deaths caused by cars. This isn't anti-car. It is about anti-death. Think

Yes and also this sort of 'uniparty' nonsense feels so hollow deployed in the midst of a national stove-touching. It turns out the difference between a 'milquetoast corporate Democrat' and Trump was really big! President Harris would not be driving trans soldiers out of the military!
