Anthropic prospectus, tl;dr:

“The loss of, or a significant disruption at, any major facility may not be readily absorbed by our remaining or future infrastructure.” Sounds like an interesting business continuity challenge. Y’all don’t have a plan for that?

A real problem (reflected in this coverage as well) is how police typically discuss swatting primarily as a “waste of resources” or distressing for the victim rather than what it actually is: attempted murder. Flowing from this, offenders don’t seem to be pursued and punished commensurately.

Sad to see how the artful deployment of “but you don’t FEEL safe, do you?” to avoid outright lying about how crime is markedly down seems poised to pay off in Toronto’s municipal election today. Please don’t miss your chance to vote!

This seems good

A recent securities filing spotlighted what triggered Mark Zuckerberg’s months-long power battle with board directors at Meta — a fight that sparked not-so-veiled threats from Zuckerberg and led board members to contemplate quitting.

This will surely lead to better products… right? Right?

*MICROSOFT TO OFFER BUYOUTS TO 60,000 WORKERS IN LATEST COST CUT 27% of its workforce!!!!!

It’s a half-measure (at best), yes. But I do suspect it will deliver benefit commensurate with the cost. What’s less obvious than the shortcomings here is that the existing platform edges need reinforcement even to support these.

If you think bringing down your app is an overreaction, governments are bringing down their services right now to dodge this vulnerability until they can patch. Your service isn't more important. And if it IS that important, all the more reason to not let it get compromised.

I’m sure Rubio knows very well that Russia claims to have annexed FOUR oblasts in this phase of the invasion, not just “Donetsk” (and then there is Crimea as well): en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian...

good lord how can anyone be this whiny; are you not ashamed

How are there no PA announcements for VIA departures in the VIA concourse at Union? The workers have to handle everything by shouting over 1,000 people’s heads all day. Wild.

I assume people who don’t like bus lanes don’t like them because they “take away a lane”. What would an Eglinton East LRT do? Not be fully underground, that’s for sure… and not get built without years of traffic disruption. Have we forgotten the recent past already?

The millennial curse: we were too old for the chickenpox vaccine, and are still too young for the shingles vaccine.

I am apparently old enough to get targeted ads for the shingles vaccine, though, which is frustrating. Having shingles was the MOST pointlessly miserable and painful few weeks I can remember, and I’d absolutely pay out of pocket to avoid having that happen again if I could… but I still can’t.

The ads I get on YouTube are so ludicrous. Like Mercedes S-class ludicrous. No only am I not lixury car rich, I take public transit everywhere.
