There are far more divergent perspectives about the IPCC timeline issue than what has been reported in climate media. Here is the report by Third World Network which is one of only two organisations, other being Earth Negotiations Bulletin, that has access to negotiation rooms twn.my/title2/clima...

But this "overshoot" discussion is so esoteric. It bizarrely avoids the elephant in the room. Emissions need to drop radically in the short term. Overshoot, IMO, distracts from that, and focuses people on unnecessary details 100 years in the future.

Anthropic's IPO prospectus has some things to say about climate risks... "the physical effects of climate change may increase our operating costs over time, as higher average temps can increase the power consumption and water usage required to cool equipment at the facilities on which we depend"

Exceeding 1.5°C of warming is now unavoidable. But how much further temperatures rise depends on how quickly we cut emissions. The new #EmissionsGap Report shows how deep those cuts must be to limit warming and make a return to 1.5°C possible. Explore the findings: https://ow.ly/voCP51002C2

It’s fascinating to look back, especially at ideas that were rejected in the days of cheap fossil energy. My dear friend @mikepage.bsky.social 🙏🏼 sent these fantastic books from 79/83 about SUPER SOLAR HOUSES + NEW INVENTIONS in Low-Cost Solar Heating. I’ll be bringing them along to workshops.

Sales of battery-electric passenger cars have jumped in South Korea this year, 24.3% so far this year compared to 13.5% in the same period last year. The new year's incentives are available from February every year, and they were given a boost this year with e.g. a new car-replacement incentive.

As someone who reads transcripts of climate change conferences for a living, and finds their dramatic tension riveting, I am so incredibly psyched that one of them has been turned into a movie 💫 (litterally: it's all verbatim. which is wild & brilliant) www.filmlinc.org/nyff2026/fil...

So, here are some fascinating stats... Germany had record BEV sales in Q2 2026 and has the third largest EV fleet in the world that can save it 16 million barrels of oil annually... ...all that at 8.3 TWh of annual electricity consumption, which is just 1.6% of Germany's demand!

I think scientists have a responsibility to not have press releases issued for random papers. Most research isn't meant or ready for general audiences. We should give science enough time to accumulate evidence before we make our problems the society's problems.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is beginning its 65th session in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia today. This is a critical meeting for the #IPCC, as the Panel must agree on both a budget for the Seventh Assessment Report and a timeline for delivery of the three Working Group reports. #AR7

Net zero 2050 is a political anchor increasingly distant from the science aligned with our UNFCCC, Paris &ICJ commitments. Simple Q. As we face a cumulative emission challenge & global emissions are still rising, how can we still have the same end date. Each year we fail so the date moves closer.
