We have CANCER VACCINES. Fucking CANCER VACCINES. We have AIDS TREATMENTS. AIDS IS NO LONGER A DEATH SENTENCE. IN MY LIIFETIME. FUCK.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

It always comes back to this for me; if AI was so good, such a disclosure would be a selling point. If AI was everything these slop jockeys said it was, they should be proud to let people know their game was AI made. But the proof is in the pudding, and they can't stand that people don't want it.

There was a fucking hole in our planet’s *atmosphere* Like a legit, no joke, β€œthis will unravel our entire ecosystem” hole in the world, and then we fixed it by working together across national and political lines As a species we decided, β€œwe will survive” Let’s do that some more

70 percent of the internet was vulnerable yesterday to very bad security flaws inside a coding language. Turns out, *one volunteer* is mostly responsible for maintaining that code & helping push updates. Yesterday OndΕ™ej SurΓ½ saved the internet. So I called him up www.theatlantic.com/technology/2...

theatlantic.comThe Man Who Saved the Internet YesterdayOndΕ™ej SurΓ½ was a relatively anonymous volunteer working on PHP security. Then the internet exploded.

Just reminding everyone that this is a rock that you’re seeing in extremely high resolution, in color, from a nuclear-powered car, that’s driving around doing complex science on…another planet…

it seems to shock the New Zealand government that Peter Jackson, Taika Waititi, and the Conchords etc all emerged from the same city in the same span, which coincidentally is when Wellington rent was dirt-cheap and there were heaps of empty industrial buildings around

People don't realize how necessary cheap rent is to the arts.

it’s very funny to me that if you’re growing garlic but it never gets cold enough it’ll be like β€œfuck you” and grow as one huge single stupid bulb

Since a dev shared his game concept last month, Steam has been flooded with vibe-coded slop clones. This is what "democratising creativity" actually looks like. Even with AI, your ideas are worthless as long as they can be plagiarised at scale. Gen AI was designed for plagiarism, NOT creativity.

eBay users! Don't ignore today's email, even though it looks like a boring standard update to the User Privacy Notice. They want to use your data to train AI models. If you click the link over the words "the right to object", it takes you to a page with a toggle button letting you opt out.

A political and media class that has gone insane. None of this shit came from the public, it is entirely our leaders and media friends who did this.

Not sure if there's free WiFi on this flight. If not, we'll see if the paid sort is reasonably priced (or how many hours into the flight I get before the urge to Post becomes too strong).

The airline app said which gate my flight was using way before the airport information screen, so I'm here in plenty of time. Not sure why, though, it's not like I'm in the priority boarding group. At least it's a bit quieter here.

I have spent the morning scurrying around vocal stimming and narrating to myself as I put the important things in my bag and case. And then I filled my water bottle, put it on the kitchen counter, and only remembered it when i got to the bus stop. >:|
