The thing about there needing to be a path of redemption for people who have been “canceled” is: there already is a path to redemption and it’s called “redeeming yourself.” The path is open! No one is blocking that! You just have to do it!

sitting in traffic when a smart beautiful woman, w/an amazing personality, walks close by—about 5ft away. i lock my car doors out of respect

I hate the framing of “Ms Rachel has found a new cause—“ because no she hasn’t. Advocating for children kidnapped and locked up by ICE is not incompatible with her advocacy of children in Palestine. You just want to make her advocacy sound frivolous and fleeting. She’s being consistent.

using public office to name and shame evil landlords into submission is so cool. i hope democrats learn from him

anytime i run into that "dem candidates don't owe you anything, not even trying to motivate you to vote for them" kinda stuff i try to picture how obama's campaign in '08 would've gone with a platform and message of "i don't owe you shit"

the dumbest form of politics is yelling at voters after you lose. if you lose it is *always* your fault. every confounding factor in the universe is your job to overcome. if you take a position that is unpopular and don't adjust to learning that, you are bad at running for office.

Even if AI is successful beyond its boosters’ wildest dreams, there is still the inherent contradiction of a machine that kills off the people it needs to steal from

Welp. The internet had a nice run. Some outlets have lost over 90% of their traffic since the "AI" summaries rolled out. "...the four worst-hit publications [now] get less monthly web traffic combined than the r/ChatGPT subreddit gets on its own."

imagine a world where retail properties are owned by the city and leased out to businesses with a contractual obligation to hire more employees and lower prices. imagine if we abandoned the myth of the market and actually treated the economy like a tool a society uses to serve its populace

just became aware of this--the regime wants to clear-cut massive chunks of Oregon's old growth forests in the name of timber production. you have until March 23rd to comment. i know we have endless fucking things to scream at politicians about--this is an important one too.

"You missed me" When you're white and in Central Park, the NYPD will play along with your snowball fight. When you're brown and in Washington Square Park you get thrown to the ground, investigations begin, kids are called adults, and snow is called ice.

I know the response of 'you're causing irreversible harm to children's bodies!' to trans healthcare for kids comes from transphobia, plain and simple. But it's wild that the same people are never vocal about MUCH more common things that ACTUALLY cause irreversible harm. Take high school football...
