✈️📺🤕 FAA issuing new AD for 757s “prompted by a report that some passenger service unit (PSU)-mounted video monitors became detached from the PSU rails during a hard landing. Airlines to replace PSU-mounted video monitors that don't have “secondary retention lanyards.” FAA says 85 US reg'd planes.

You think she’ll travel more now that she’s retired?

Carol Fair’s career as a flight attendant began more than 63 years ago. Today, American Airlines’ most senior FA is operating her final flight before retirement. Congratulations Carol! Track her final flight on Flightradar24 at www.flightradar24.com/AAL733/424c0...

Someone busted up the EMAS with jet blast and now they gotta fix it.

BREAKING: One of Midway Airport's runways will shut down until mid-November for emergency repairs. The crumple zone designed to stop planes that overshoot the runway is damaged on departures end of 22L. "The closure has the potential to cause flight delays and cancellations."

A separate thanks to @themiddleseatview.bsky.social for all of her incredible help! Camera work, driving, airport fixer, and all-around wonderful human being. This video would not be possible without her. 🤗

Join us aboard the final Lufthansa A340-600 flight from Washington to Frankfurt. We get stunning views of take off and landing from the flight deck, chat with the crew about what makes the aircraft and final flight special, and enjoy the end of an era. www.youtube.com/watch?v=fJGl...

Incredible to be a part of this special flight. The crew was fantastic and the people onboard were quite special, including one person who made their own A340-600 flag and the others who brought a full sheet cake. And stick around for the @byerussell.com cameo near the end!

For a second I thought this headline meant that they were going to make a sequel where the Cocaine Bear was in a data center. And honestly, I would watch that.

In Home Alone, the McAllisters leave Chicago on a DC-10, but land in Paris aboard a 757. Catherine O’Hara then boards an MD-80 to fly from Paris to Dallas.

After pining for months (okay, years), we recently bought a e-cargo bike and it has de-stressed our kid logistics and increased our "let's go to the park!". Cannot recommend it highly enough.

Going car-free is great, but don't forget about families who could use a cargo bike (or minicar) as their second or third vehicle. The potential market is much, much bigger!

Of those four airplanes, it’s mildly depressing to know that the only one still carrying passengers is the E145.

Gonna have some time on my hands the next few weeks, so today's look back is from Chicago O'Hare in 2011.

PetchmoAir officially announces its interest in early-build 777-9s and that the airline has submitted its bid for a minority stake in TAP. The 777-9s will be used exclusively on the airline’s new Fargo-Funchal route (pending regulatory approval).

Some more from the neighborhood yesterday and today. The last two are just what was directly in front of our house. Kudos to the Chicago forestry folks who made roads mostly passable by morning.
