Chrome on iOS has been updated. The back button has been replaced with a Gemini button. I use the back button all the time, but now my muscle memory will invoke an AI assistant that I don’t want to use. This is not accidental, they know exactly what they’re doing here.

I’m getting an iPhone Air (512GB, black) on Monday. I am 10x more excited for this than I would be if I were getting a Duo. The Air seems like peak iPhone to me, and the Duo (from everything I’ve seen) a not fully baked first gen experiment. Maybe in a couple years.

❗❗❗Mark Zuckerberg's meta just suspended the No Kings Instagram account. I just rushed back from my local No Kings to jump on this. Bottom line, would be helpful for all pro-No Kings folks to elevate the issue and help us get the word out about No Kings today. The Nerd Reich strikes again.

I watched the Tesla Roadster video. Technically impressive from an engineering standpoint, but otherwise it’s one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen.

I called a payment office this morning to ask about a bill. An AI bot answered. When I asked it to transfer me to a human being, it said it'd love to do that, but humans are only available during business hours, which it told me were 8-5 Monday through Friday. This was 10:15am on a Wednesday.

This is kind of funny. T-Mobile's site shows iPhone 16s and 17s as "Built for Apple Intelligence", but the new 18 pros don't have that. Guess I should buy an older phone.

Saw at Walgreens that Mountain Dew was three dollars for a 20oz bottle. THREE DOLLARS. These were 75 cents in the vending machines 25 years ago. That’s literally a 4x price increase. Is there RAM in pop now?

I'm probably going to get muted or blocked for this, but as a fellow science communicator, using AI-generated imagery/text is really a bad look all around. It not only steals from your fellow scientists because it's all trained on stolen data, it also makes up fake science.

“Agents like Muse are trying to convince us they’re just a cute little guy who lives in your pocket, and definitely not an always-open portal into the servers of a major surveillance company,” says @jathansadowski.com. My weekend report for @wired.com: www.wired.com/story/meta-m...

wired.comMeta’s Muse Is Adults-Only. Why Does It Look Like a Kids’ Toy?Meta says Muse is just for adults, though its cuddly, Labubu-like mascot—and upcoming Tamagotchi-style AI device—may be disarming for users of all ages.

2/ I just finished the episode and am literally pulled over on the side of the road to send this. I will fight tooth and nail for this to be in. I can defend all three questions, no problem. Nilay and I will run your “no” into the ground.

25 years ago? That’s a lifetime. But I remember it like it was yesterday.

On this day, 25 years ago, I sat in the back aisle of a Walmart with @philringsmuth.com for eight hours so we could get the GameCube at midnight. Worth it.
