Looking for game devs who have been directly inspired by anything BioWare for my next video. I suspect the public likely doesn’t quite realize the extent of their influence on the industry, so I’d really like to highlight that. If you are one such game devs, pls reply to this post!

I know I haven't been posting as much but I wanna assure you I'm still starting to write posts, rewording them a million times, then saying 'fuck it who cares anyway' and then deleting them just as much as before, so no worries

To celebrate Tribute Games' 15th anniversary, artist M. Roboto brought this mural to life, turning a simple brick wall into a little piece of our story. A huge thank you to our team, our past, present and future partners, and everyone who's played a part in these first 15 years. ❤️ #Tribute15

Day 2 starting and the Ubisoft Workers of Montreal already collected 300+ signatures for their “Preserve Hybrid Work” petition! Most of the signatures were collected in person, so if you’re a Ubi employee, go meet your colleagues during break hours! Not an employee? Share this post to show support.

Pompeii is a UNESCO world heritage site not because it was remarkable in its prime, but because it survived to our era untouched: one moment, preserved for all time. But future generations won't know what OUR world was like unless we do the same. This is why we MUST bury Toronto with a volcano

NEW ARTICLE NEW ARTICLE 9yrs, 9 months, I was burned out and almost dead. It made it hard to do my yearly roundup. Let's talk about 2017 was one of the most important years of my life, and how these games shaped me as an artist. ...if I can remember them all. docseuss.medium.com/i-completed-...

docseuss.medium.comi completed 52 games and 8 pieces of downloadable content in 2017.In March 2018, I ended up in the ER. I had been working far, far too much and too hard and it turns out I had a congenital heart defect…

Posts like these are becoming far too common, but if you're an Xbox / Halo Studios worker impacted by the layoffs today and want to share your story confidentially, please do reach out. Can also answer any questions you have about speaking to press. Email in bio. DMs open. Signal: kerrblimey.43

My insurance company, my pharmacy and the provincial health insurance have the same shitty saxophone hold music and it’s doing permanent damage to my psyche

I wonder how much that person has been sweating this week.

These wins are incredible!!! Minimum 4 weeks severance + 1 week for every 6 months employment, AND recall rights, AND hybrid work + AI protections, AND up to 34% wage increases! This would have been unthinkable before the industry started to unionize!

blizzard workers' union contract includes "really strong" layoff protections, recall rights, just cause protections, hybrid work, AI protections, and a salary floor aftermath.site/blizzard-union-contract-warcraft-overwatch-diablo

Congrats to the Blizzard folks! Your solidarity and hard work did this! ✊

PS I've been doing some research into psychological studies of different voter/political groups and - it's true - progressives are ofter far less happy than rightwingers or the disengaged. But do you know which group comes out as happiest of all, consistently? Progressive organisers and activists.

Doing research on old cameras and found this: the first commercial all-digital camera, the Cromemco Cyclops from 1975. 1kb of ram, 32x32 pixels (0.001 megapixels)

I had a chance to speak with our local news org about the layoffs affecting the Austin area. Part of the city's culture is gaming, and it's important we protect it.

Amazon skirting safety laws to save money?! Now I've seen everything

IGN@ign.com

Amazon MGM Studios' new Tomb Raider series broke health and safety laws during production, just months after filming had to be halted due to a separate incident where star Sophie Turner was injured on-set. https://bit.ly/46yZBMF

This tells me I don't need to worry about 74% of the games that come out on Steam. They're not competition, they're background noise.

GamesIndustry.biz@gibiz.bsky.social

Over 700 games launched on Steam in one week for the first time, though 74% had fewer than 10 reviews 530 titles had zero to nine reviews, while 190 had over ten reviews, according to data from ICO Partners www.gamesindustry.biz/over-700-gam...

This might say more about me than them but... I'm surprised that many people were able to navigate the bureaucracy of incorporating, filling out the banking forms, etc, just to get their game listed... Only to not even have 10 friends to buy and review your game?

Giving clear commands for what art you want made is a skill that makes you an artist and creator yourself. That's why folks always credit the artist Pope Clement VII for painting the Sistine Chapel

With each layoff, real people are affected and real lives are turned upside down with uncertainty. As long as this continues, developers will never feel safe, and I'm proud to lend my voice to this cause and speak about the true impact these decisions cause.
