I remember talking with an elderly gay man a few years ago. He was very, um, theatrical, and he rolled his eyes in a way that I kept interpreting as rude but no, it was just very, um, theatrical.

Yeah he's not doing eye-rolling in the "huffy teenager annoyed with their parents" sense that I have read it in several books in the past few weeks

No one is more self-deprecating about their work than I am but remind me, please, the next time you clock me doing so, that I could never write this badly: "the pained frenzy of his bulbous salutation extenuating his excitement as it whacked and smacked its way into every muscle of Eliza's body"

Seriously this whole chocolate article is hitting at Caity-Weaver-at-old-Gawker levels

John Garrison Marks@johngmarks.com

The whole thing is great and very much some of my favorite kind of writing, but I have been thinking about these two sentences every single day for a week now.

and before you refute this pathetic and disingenuous argument, know that refuting it is uhhhh also a privileged lifestyle choice, got u

my nuclear-grade AI hot take that’s sure to get me cancelled until kingdom come is that refusing to use AI at all is rapidly becoming an extremely privileged lifestyle choice that feels social justice-y while actually being the complete opposite

I think one of the more important skills you can have in 2026 is knowing when someone is performatively using progressive coded language to argue for something that is fundementally not progressive because they can claim a perceived moral high ground.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

Book 93 of 2026: @boneysoups.bsky.social, The Red Sacrament This novel feels like a love letter to Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles, except it's much more exquisitely written. "Vampires running a theater" will be a familiar premise, but the details are jewel-like and the ending will surprise you.

I don't care if you're as left as they come, left of Bernie Sanders, or purple...

guy who says he is 'as left as they come' but is actually a reactionary conservative for the 90s instead of the 50s

The most immediate "Hey, if you liked BioWare games, then you'll dig this..." is the RPG project I've been on since this summer, Hunter: The Reckoning -- Deathwish. Its biggest influence is obviously Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, but BioWare hallmarks are there too. teyon.com/games/hunter...

RANDOM POSTER WHOSE OPINION I HAVE NO REASON TO TRUST: A result like this in NV-03 would be seismic. That’s deep Blortles country. It was Vinkum +8 in ‘24 ME DURING ELECTION SEASON: totally. i just need to look at 9000 more of these

I love being reminded that the audience really doesn’t give a shit about the developers. Like, forget that one of the most influential studios in our industry was just executed by its publisher, just make sure the product continues on the assembly lines!

IGN@ign.com

After hearing news of BioWare's closure on Wednesday, over 75,000 Mass Effect fans have signed a petition demanding that EA put another studio in charge of the franchise or license out the IP. https://bit.ly/4siIubW

wait that's...writer, penciler, inker, separations-girl, letterer, that's like $25, that's a whole hamburger without the fries, I can't afford that

I don’t know how people could say that programming and art are completely different disciplines when both workflows involve going ‘This will never work, I’m a failure’, changing one thing, then thinking you might be the smartest person alive

I sort of feel like the geography of London is none of my business. That's for wizards who write comic books to fight over. Presumably it changes depending on who's winning.

David Barnett@davidmbarnett.bsky.social

I have literally zero idea about the geography of London. I know Kings Cross, and everything else is accessed by going into the bowels of the earth and emerging again somewhere near the right place, which is either near the river, or not near the river.

Usually that combo -- young people whose education and energy are underutilized by the job market -- leads to political upheavals. Why not here?

Remember when the '08 crash triggered a massive wave of political uprisings across the US (and in fact the world), with student-led groups pressuring their governments to divest from the financial organizations that are, even now, destroying us? They lost.

To come to the point: the real question is "why have student-led protest movements in the US been defeated, every time, since the 1970s?" Not "why aren't the kids showing up, why won't they overthrow things for me?"

They just lost.

A reason horror is having such a resurgence is it's one of the only ways to sneak cinematic stories for adults past a studio. You can make actual art that respects the audience enough to understand intent behind the expression, and a whole month to celebrate them. Anyways, I'm gonna watch Jason X.
