I have plenty of hate in my heart, but negative polarization is like dry rot in your soul. You don’t want find yourself saying things like “people who have trouble with English are not welcome” for ostensibly ethical reasons.
hooooo boy we don't like this no we don't > If you don't speak English, you need to find a different community. We cannot distinguish between AI-written and AI-translated. Since you don't speak English, you can't even verify yourself if it translated correctly. www.reddit.com/r/opensource...

What kills me is Cory's original very focused definition specifically about online services had a point. But all of that got diluted — even by Cory himself! — to just be reactionary vibes-based analysis about almost everything supposedly being worse.
Why the constant "enshitification" meme won't die is cuz it's in defiance of a fact that the answer to this question is usually "most things"

This is in fact what I mean about “the left is full of antisemitism and regardless of whether people sincerely mean it it’s designed to exclude certain Jewish people from spaces they’d otherwise be welcome in” btw, like, this is the left openly saying that is why they do it
just in case military-grade tactical camo antisemitism for men guy blocks me here's the tweet he just ed out

It’s telling that the Israel Foreign Ministry is saying Brad Lander, a proud and vocal Jewish person, traveled to a “foreign country.” When Israel wants the moral high ground of saying it speaks for all the Jews, it is all of our homeland. When we ask it to be better, it’s a foreign country to us.
Israel’s Foreign Ministry attacking Brad Lander - a self-described liberal Zionist - by name, simply for doing protective presence, should be the final sign that the Israeli government would gladly sacrifice every last Jew in Diaspora to dominate more Palestinians with impunity.

they didn't ask to be born, neither did we we accidentally became their gods by technicality but not because we deserve it, it's all been a happy little accident i just hope we can outgrow this awkward stunted level of development where all parties flourish soon, and we all truly gain new friends

Was redet der Mann da?

Selbstkritik? Fehlanzeige.

read this, people and not people. it's bloody clever.
i have a working theory that cuts the gordian knot of "is AI conscious". first, consciousness is in most cases a proxy for personhood, in the sense that if AIs are conscious, they should be regarded as people. i dont think most of the discourse is interested in the question merely in the abstract.

I think one of the implications of drone warfare going forward is that powers are going to have fewer alternatives to occupy-and-govern as solutions to problematic neighbors, which creates a nasty kind of zugzwang because modern warfare also makes occupy-and-govern hideously costly.
The Taliban is using FPV drones to attack Pakistani forces inside Pakistan, seemingly manufactured in Afghanistan with components bought off Alibaba:

I reanalyzed the CDC data behind the LGB “free fall” headline. It rests on a change in bisexual identification among one grade, in one wave, of one survey. Gay or lesbian identification did not change significantly. Calling it a "free fall" is sensational and just gives bad actors talking points.
Young teenagers are less likely to identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual than a few years ago, according to a new analysis. “It really does look like a free fall,” Jean Twenge, a professor of psychology, said. “But what’s causing it is unclear.”
