Tech Necromancer/Thrift Wizard. Also Principal Technical Designer at Guerrilla Games (#HorizonForbiddenWest). Love everything Sony (+ NES🤫)
Kind high functioning weirdo - You can find my 3D models here: https://www.printables.com/@RetroGameRevival
I thought it makes sense to introduce myself here:
I work in the Games Industry as a "Senior Technical World Designer" during the day. At night I love to work on most things retro gaming related!
I am very active in recreating (repair) parts, with 135 releases!

Support for in-game reset with new firmware, alongside various minor fixes and improvements. Lots of great community contributions in this one - thanks to all involved! github.com/Board-Folk/N...
I have laser engraved a black keycap a bit deeper, painted the legends with model paint, let it dry for a week and brushed the excess off with the Dremel and a 300 grid tool. The final touch was wiping the surface with isopropanol and a nano sponge.
I think I stumbled upon one of the coolest things I thrifted in a long while today, something I’ve never seen before too - a 8086 microcontroller development board!
(assembly manual included)
A good while ago my good friend @pointerfunction.bsky.social designed and gave me this Atari 2600 game stand.
Today I populated it with some vintage bootlegs.
Well, we did it - more than $250k for game devs who have been laid off, to be distributed by @videogameworkers.bsky.social. Congratulations and thanks to everyone who donated their time, games, and money to help folks out in a time of need.
Alright y'all, this is it! The final stretch for the game industry hardship fund. We've got $13k to raise in 14 hours to meet the final goal, I think we can do it. itch.io/b/3802/game-...
This one took me really long (literally several days), but the ezBuff did pull it off!
Ultimate Spider-man for PS2 succesfully restored and 100% ripped.
Deep scratches and pits had me had to resurface it twice, and buff all the way back to fully shiny.
it's finally time to reveal my birthday gift to the community!
I present to you the RGR ezBuff.
A disc polishing and resurfacing machine, which can restore your scratched discs back to work.

not gonna lie, I'm actually really excited to share this soon! 😂
A few of you are in the know, and I love that the reply has unanimously been "oh, I did not expect that, but that's amazing!".
Last detail before release: It's a tool, not a replica as you would have expected from me!
This coming wednesday is my Birthday (July 1st), and as a treat I am gonna share my biggest project I have to date with everyone! ❤️
It took me countless restarts (lots of things learned atleast 😂), and a total of 7 years to finally get this made...
Here's a preview of what's coming 👀
chatting about this project has been very fun, i hope people are excited for it, i feel theirs a real need for it and it opens up a discussion around how exploitative current options are.

This design has been made freely available by @pointerfunction.bsky.social and uses cheap USB-C charger modules for 18650 Lithium batteries... and a couple of other things 😊
"Why are people so negative about the economy?"
Consider this. There are two possibilities:
1) He's right and my livelihood is screwed. Maybe not 18 months but soon.
2) He's full of shit, it won't happen, and AI is a giant bubble that will crash the economy.
Why would I feel good about either?
full disclosure: disc was bought 2nd hand, I don’t know it’s usage/storage history
Is this the first signs of disc rot on ‘newer’ consoles? White swirls on the internal layers of this wii game (PAL smash bros Brawl, nintendo published!).
This could be bad for collectors 😢 cc @timeextension.com
Found an old model set still sitting on my hard drive unused, so have uploaded them for everyone to download now!
C64 keycap set, modelled to be as close as possible to the original shape! It's missing the space key, will add that later.

Soldered it all together, nice and therapeutic 🥰
Now have to make a SASI cable for my X68000 to install this internally (and probably make a mount too), but that’s for later - I hate making cables 😂
The swap itself was easy.
I prep the port with a little solder to the hdmi connector pins beforehand.
Once the old port is off, I clean up the old solder with some wick, heat the area again and drop the new on in place.
I've add a new VFX category on my website which lists some of my VFX-related game assets; Light masks, splats, foliage, particles and smoke!

Remember those mech drawings I posted earlier?
Well, it was a tease for a previously abandoned NES project I recently dug up, polished, and made playable :D
Come and check out this never-before seen NES homebrew on my itch -> vectrex28.itch.io/augmented-co...#nesdev#gamedev
