Aftermath is almost entirely supported by paid reader subscriptions. If just 2,000 of the 132,000 following this account signed up (for just $5.80 per month on an annual plan), or 2,000 of the 27,500 'free' newsletter recipients, the website would change fundamentally! aftermath.site/landing/

Deadlock bringing together MOBA players and team hero shooter players is both wildly impressive and almost kind of evil ngl. this is the true archmother/hidden king divide.

blessed in life because i have already convinced 5 other people to regularly play deadlock with me so we can queue with a full team of people

I was already excited to do a swap with @aftermath.site (they republished our recent feature on Pokémon fangames by @pokachee.bsky.social), and especially excited that we landed on this brilliant piece, which digs into a topic I find fascinating despite not knowing much about Fortnite itself!

"The simultaneous proliferation of AI, social media, and the massive success of unlikely brand collaborations have blurred the lines of how characters are portrayed, and how the characters’ brands portray themselves in turn." @sam.robotsfightingdinosaurs.com on Fortnite's uneasy brand crossovers:

I went to Riot Games HQ to play Riftbound: Radiance and interview executive producer Chengran Chai! Here’s my in-depth preview with details on new keywords, how Deploy is primed to disrupt the meta, what to expect at this week’s Pre-Rifts, and more: www.ign.com/articles/rif...

ign.comRiftbound: Radiance Hands-On Preview and Interview - Riftbound Embraces Complexity - IGNWe played Riftbound's fifth set, Radiance, in Pre-Rift and sealed formats and spoke with executive producer Chengran Chai, who commented on how Deploy is primed to disrupt the meta and more.

i dont watch a lot of league content live but boy was i thrilled when i watched the LCS finals this year because that's MY jungler! First Latin American player to win an LCS title and finals MVP!!! josedeodo is him!! 🥹happy hhm to all my latino league degens lmao

I had to deal with regular old sexism in a conversation about esports after a hard week and there really is no break ever huh?

This is a fantastic, fantastic way to support Minnesota and Twin Cities news coverage. Signal boosting Minnesota Reformer to all the folks out there who were like, "What do I do?" during peak media coverage of the Twin Cities ICE occupation. Please support independent nonprofit news!

hey folks. it's fundraising season at the @minnesotareformer.com. if you've found my reporting useful this year, we'd appreciate it if you made a one-time donation or a recurring contribution. donors help keep our reporting paywall free!

Please continue to support an amazing group of folks (including the incredible @pewpewbang.bsky.social crew) who were caught up in the crossfire of all this. They've done the right thing and one person's crimes shouldn't taint what such a great community has built.

MinnMax@minnmax.com

Jacob Geller is no longer a part of MinnMax. He won't be on content moving forward and we won't be publicly airing this week's episode of The MinnMax Show. We're in shock and deeply hurt. Thank you for your patience during this sensitive time.

if you are a dude and want to be an ally the answer is not in posting or spending money (though do that, sure) but in realizing how your presence can change the atmosphere of a room and that no one has any reason to know or care that you are “one of the good ones” and do what you can about that.

jess is right! it’s worse than ever for women in this field, and it was still pretty bad at our peak. im one of the lucky freelancers who has regular work (probably work more than i did at polygon!), and it’s still not a livable amount of pay. it’s pushing important and skilled women out.

Jessica Cogswell 🌸@jessicogs.bsky.social

And it’s gotten worse! Ask any woman in this industry and they’ll tell you that. Over the past few years, it has gotten so much worse. I see all these talented writers you all tokenized five years ago who have now been pushed out because you stopped caring. Stopped performing. And I’m just so angry.

men in gaming don’t realize that no one is blameless when the culture is against women. i cried at SGF bc i was surrounded by male peers commenting on how i looked, not understanding that it made me feel just as alone as when the random guy on the street told me to lift my skirt

True to being a League of Legends fan, I have recently grown a bit tired of playing League. I needed to play something more relaxing, so I have opted to play... Doom (2016) for the first time. So far, it feels a lot more chill! I am being dead serious right now!

*Love* our latest from @pokachee.bsky.social, about a type of fanwork that's massively popular but one I rarely see discussed in convos about transformative fandom. Fangames are technically interesting—literally using the source material in modding—but even more so from a community/fandom angle:

fansplaining.comPokémon Fangames Evolve Beyond Their OriginsFor fangame creators, the work they develop and the communities they inspire are inextricably tied.

my issue with the lack of women of color in games media and journalism is how important their perspective is when reviewing games. im sorry and no shade but i dont think a white man will have the same perspective of a game like Venba than a woman of color (esp brown)

Please hire Ashley

is there a better word than devastated? (shattered? fly-swatted?) anyway i've been laid off. i joined gamesradar+ as a freelancer in 2023, and the site had my lifelong admiration by the time i became a senior writer in 2024. i'll miss it lmk if u need a creepy🧟‍♀️ gurl: ashleybardhan(at)gmail(dot)com

If you are in a position where you can do anything at all about this, please, please advocate for women of color in media. There are so few women and nonbinary people period. Even less of them are non-white.

There is a real psychological effect when you see how white, how male-dominated this space has become in the past two years alone. It’s about paying the bills but it’s also about who can imagine themselves doing this work. Please advocate for the people who have always made this field special.

Replying to @us.theguardian.com

For every arrest that breaks through into public view, countless others happen quickly, before anyone can notice. Now ICE is anywhere and everywhere, embedded in all corners of everyday life.

theguardian.comGone in 90 seconds: an ‘invisibilized’ ICE is arresting more people than everAfter public backlash, the Trump administration changed its tactics from ‘siege’ to ‘soft feet’. Now, ICE is everywhere

Very random (but important) question: What are your favorite non-profits doing work in media, journalism, and (for my own interests) video games? Looking to get a better idea of the kind of work happening out there for a larger project. Likes and RTs appreciated.✨

www.theguardian.com/games/2026/s... I haven't shared my work on here for a while because (gestures at the weird vibes) but I wanted to share the first of a series of articles I worked on at Pokemon Worlds for @theguardian.com. In this article, I spoke to a whole bunch of IRL Pokemon Professors.🥼🤓

theguardian.comMeet the real-life Pokémon professors, the unsung heroes of competitive monster-battlingThey offer advice, referee card games and manage players’ tantrums – we caught up with some of the volunteer profs who keep the competitive game going at this year’s world championships

Why is it always “Ana aren’t you on deadline?” and “oh I thought you had your night class at this time” or “why did you send me this” And never “Ana thank you so much for sending me 20+ links to 🔥🔥🔥 SettPhel art”
