The Federal President of my union, Michael Slezak, was hauled in by his bosses and threatened with disciplinary action over an editorial he wrote defending access to companies information that would benefit all journalists and the public. This can't be allowed. In solidarity @withmeaa.bsky.social

This seems like a win-win in every regard.

LMFAO -- Trump is holding an event at the White House right now but there's no audio because the press pool isn't there. The Newsmax host notes that this is an example of Trump's attacks on the press "backfiring just a little bit"

Chilean Australians in Sydney remember the great terrorist crime of September 11, 1973, when Washington helped destroy Chilean democracy, backing a bloody coup and murdering tens of thousands. They played Allende's final speech.

I keep thinking about how OpenAI is a DoD vendor and a legit military target while we are in a war with a nation that has hackers and OpenAI has stated on the record that someone or something was aggressively hacking another US organization from their network… …and they didn’t notice for a week.

It appears to me that oil prices are back near their peak, but here in regional Australia the prices at the servo don't seem particularly elevated. Some of that is the excise reduction, but from my casual observations it seems like the servo price and oil price have decoupled a bit?

I'm not sure I understand this correctly. Iran closes strait of hormuz in response to American Israeli attacks. US demands they open it as part of negotiations. US then blocks it in response to failed negotiations. It's hard to tell who actually wants it open

We could've phased out fossil fuels the gradual, smart and painless way starting in the 1990s The fossil fuel industry decided we have to do it the painful, unfair and cruel way instead. because that gave them an extra few decades of super-profits

Ukraine, which continues to be under attack from a four-year long Russian invasion, is sending resources to help defend US interests in the Middle East, after the US started a new conflict there. The US has responded by giving money to Russia.

Ukraine has been begging for hardware that is now being used by the US in the middle east. Hypothetical heard this morning: Putin offers to cut off intelligence to Iran if US cuts off intelligence to Ukraine. "While all the planets little wars start joining hands" - The The

Jeremy's reaction is a good measure of how this failure will be received among the wider public, not only as it concerns the NACC, but what it suggests about the broader ability of Australian institutions to hold anyone of significant power or influence to account for anything in future.

Jeremy Poxon@jeremypoxon.bsky.social

The passages clearing Morrison of fault are extraordinary NACC says Morrison is technically "responsible" as cabinet Minister, but not "personally at fault" If responsibility exists without consequence...then what does "ministerial accountability" even mean anymore?

I don't see any value in politics that substitutes Islamophobia for anti-Semitism, and it should be rejected. Any politics using generalisations about a broad group of people to draw conclusions about individuals is fundamentally flawed.

I think this means I'm growing contraband!?

The promise of streaming was that the world's content would be made accessible at a good price, and more conveniently than pirate sites. But now I find I can't even access content that is culturally significant. I feel like the Information Age we were headed for is now the information dark ages.

I'm looking at what I think is a legitimate email, quarantined as a potential Phish. They have unintentionally added some red flags. Comic sans, a QR code, a competition entry asking for details, links to third party landing page. No wonder we can't tell what is or isn't a phish.
