#RandomGameSaturday Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS1) Castlevania goes into a new direction with a non-linear castle that is very much like a Metroid title. Hmm! Play as Alucard and flip a building! It’s still great! Japan got a version for Sega Saturn with extra features.

#RandomGameSaturday Super Game Boy (SNES) Supercharge your Game Boy games by playing them on the TV! Customize the game’s color palette for a nicer experience. Select GB games were Super Game Boy enhanced (most notably DK ‘94), which gave the games richer color and better sound. Did you play SGB?

The game notably never released outside of Japan and Europe, despite the game being fully translated in multiple languages. The current Nintendo of America president at the time told IGN that the game’s audio quality was not up to NOA’s standards, which is why it didn’t come out over here…

You can play the game using the SNES Mouse if you would like. Vegas Stakes is unlikely to hit the Nintendo Classics app due to the ESRB’s current stance regarding gambling themes (anything with gambling elements automatically gets an M rating).

#RandomGameSaturday Speed Punks (PS1) / Speed Freaks A highly underrated PS1 kart racer. The characters look unusual, but the gameplay is very good. The music slaps, the boost mechanic is unique, and there’s a few secrets to find. The game released very close to CTR, so it was mostly ignored.

This lines up with a lot of my thoughts on it. I also think the speed with which Roblox developers jack concepts from each other to further optimize their games for monetization is fascinating and shouldn't be in something that gets pushed to kids. It's like the worst version of best practices.

#RandomGameSaturday MOTHER 3 (JP GBA) The successor to EarthBound went in a different direction. No more eating hamburgers out of trash cans in a modern world. MOTHER 3 is an experience of a society that faces change. The oddball humor is still there, but the themes are more mature. It’s a banger.
