Six months ago, I changed into a Novabeast, and I found that that change has given me a lot of joy. But the change came with a cost - the vixen that I once was will never be my true shape again. Yet that shape has been very important to me, and formative in many ways. >> 🎨 @aurru.bsky.social

there's a VERY disturbing cultural shift atm toward sex negativity and demands for "purity" around sex, a lot of guilt and shame, and it's largely about cultural control - when you control and punish open sexual desire or discussion, you also control discussions of consent and autonomy

@ mainstream writers: you can join the Furry Writer's Guild, y'know. Absolutely no AI, no platforming assholes who're selling AI services. We got our own anthologies and an award and everything! And you most likely have already published a story that qualifies :)

If you don't like houses with bricks through their windows, why are you living in a house with a brick through your window? A brick through your window is coming. It's been coming since the house was built. Do you breathe oxygen? Oxygen comes through your window, which was broken by a brick.

Are bricks through the window really bad? Sure, the broken glass gave you nasty cuts when you tried to clean it up. And it'll cost a lot to get the window replaced. But since it's inevitable, you might as well accept it. Why not embrace the bricks through your window?

I started out against bricks being thrown through windows, but when I woke up after the brick hit me in the head, I big think thought brick good Brexit good Fetterman make more sense good brain thought bing bong glass.

You can cut yourself off from the world by boarding up all your windows, or you can stop gatekeeping and let people throw bricks through them.

By accepting this brick through your window, you agree to the terms and conditions listed in this agreement rubber-banded to the brick. If you choose to decline these terms and conditions, you can remove the brick from your room at any time.

Look, friends. I know that you don't think it's much. But the NYT Puzzles app is very much propping up the NYT's ideologically driven hate campaign against trans people. You gotta let your streak go. There are so many other puzzles out there you could be playing that won't fund hate.

I didn’t think I’d be wading through sewer water at 5am to grab my car keys but here we are. Everything is gone. It’s a total loss. @shrugsyolo.bsky.social lost a lot of her fursuit supplies. I lost most of what I brought up to Canada. We are buying a house soon but loosing our space sucks.

I don't usually do these (and I need to get to bed too) but why not 1 like = 1 writer behind-the-scenes fact! Which may or may not be fun, I can't decide that for you.

12 cnt'd) The rest have been either more generally inspired or sprung out of some other source. Feathers with Benefits, for example, started because there was a dearth of male human with female gryphon compared to the reverse. Not as true anymore, but the need is still there! Or so I think.

Freebie: I have not, nor will I ever, use AI/LLM slop garbage bullshit in or for my writing. My words are my own. My edits are my own. My beta readers are human (or at least human-adjacent, I know at least one is therian). Art is made by people. Fuck AI.

11 cnt'd) Not the first human/other sex scenes I've written by a long shot, it's actually most of my content. What can I say? Variety is the spice of life and I enjoy lots of flavor. Human/other has an element of wish fulfillment too. Sure they may be standard, but they're OUR standard.

12) Speaking of my content, it's interesting how much is either "justify this punny title" (Centaur for Disease Control, Taurnado, Hide and Squeak, aforementioned Cracking Open...) or "inspired by this piece of art" (Peak Pleasure, Locking Horns, Elega, Fanatic Xenophile, Tales from the JSAI).

9) (cnt'd) The working title was "Gender Confusion Mizutsune" and, thanks to the bracket technique above, I was able to write an M/M and M/F version. Though, if I could do it again: I'd keep the first four parts the same, have Genbi change his guess a couple times, and split versions for the fifth.

10) Adagio for Wings is the longest single project I've written, and will be enough for 2-3 novels depending where I break things. FwB and the sequel was about 47k when I suspended work on it. Adagio will be in the ballpark of 180k words across six arcs.

8) I've had two phases for my writing. 2009-2016 saw me writing a fair bit, including FwB... then, everything changed when depression attacked. I didn't exactly stop but I barely had any progress until four or five years ago. Centaur for Disease Control and Salazzle Dazzle got me back in the groove.

6) If I have the last line of a story in my head, the idea is locked in. Or so I used to think, because I've got one that's sort of missing a middle. And worldbuilding. And a few other things. But OTHERWISE...

7) Onto WIPs! I'm not sure if stopping and rebooting counts as continuous work, but if so, Feathers with Benefits/Adagio for Wings has been in development for like 14 years now. Please excuse me while I take some pain meds for my back.

3) To that end, I try to just... write as much I can in one 'sitting' so to speak. Keep in that flow state. 4) I can't bullet-point outline. Never got the hang of them. I'll basically write the beats/scenes of the story without any prose or dialogue, sort of a draft 0.5.

5) I'm like 80/20 planner vs. pantser. Having the outline keeps me from getting lost in the weeds... except sometimes, the story will veer into unexpected and better directions. I rarely fight it when that happens.

I completely forgot I posted this. Which brings me to: 1) I have a Trello board specifically to track (mostly) all of my ideas, WIPs, what's posted where, etc. My executives are dysfunctioning just barely above shitshow *with* that. I will genuinely forget WIPs exist if I don't.

2) If I can't figure out the right word, need to research, etc. I will put [brackets] around the offending bit and keep writing so I don't lose steam. Then I just do a search for [ during my editing passes.
