Not sure I'd bet on Essengue being that high on the depth chart, at least from the start of the season. We'll see what Billy Donovan says once he gets him into preseason, but he really preferred that slow roll approach with Matas last season.

Gravy? You want me to mention gravy? Why would I mention gravy? Gravy.

For anyone wondering why #gravy has been trending: AI hucksters are trawling through your social media posts for training data and trends. And you know what can gum up the gears of an automated sentence generator? Posts that use the word gravy out of context. #auspol #ChatGPT #AI #LLM

The VP dared to lecture European nations about free speech, while the President dismantles the very concept right in front of them. It will take a generation for the US’s global reputation to recover.

Good morning, America. Your President is in Europe. It is not possible to fully articulate how much this man embarrasses the US on a global stage. “We have scum that’s in this group. CNN is scum. MSDNC is scum. The New York Times is scum. They are bad people. They're sick.”

Should write a version of this talk for a purely game dev audience titled "why you want to have a historian working on your game even if you think you don't need one, and yes that means you"

The thing about the Khalil case is that it's very very good that he's free now but you can't have it take three months between "the government kidnaps you off the street for no basis reason whatsoever" and "a judge makes them let you go." You just can't.

all this guy does is spout bullshit all day long and everyone around him acts like it's FINE. it's not. it's deeply corrosive and corrupting and morally repugnant.

Q: Could your recent dustups with Newsom impact wildfire relief? TRUMP: Sure, maybe. He shouldn't have fires like that. You clean the floor of your forest and you won't have any forest fires.

Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

Rick Haseman reposted

This is what's been driving me f'ing crazy about the Democrats. They ceded the immigration debate to the GOP for no reason. Immigration is a net positive to this country and it's not even close. We have a broken immigration system but the problem isn't the immigrants, it's the politicians.

Julia Carrie Wong@joolia.bsky.social

kind of just endlessly sad and grieving that there are so few voices in the public sphere making the basic principled argument that immigration is an affirmative good in every way and the best way for this country to serve humanity is to welcome people who want or need to leave their homes

Anecdotal, but I'm definitely noticing an uptick in advocacy for violence here. About which I'll say only this: Promoting violence on social media is the work of trolls and fools, those eager to bait others into implicating themselves in the age of surveillance or fools rushing to the gulag.

another day, another argument that we have to swaddle trump voters in our arms and kiss them on their foreheads when their feelings are hurt because they just didn't know any better :(

Trump voters lamenting the arrest of Carol Hui has inspired lots of "FAFO" online chortling. But polling data really does show large majorities oppose the deportations of people with jobs, who have lived here a long time, and have no criminal record. 4/ newrepublic.com/article/1961...

Centrist pundits want the Democrats to be a party that appeals not to distractions like the demonization of marginalized people, or the unlawful abrogation of habeas corpus to terrorize them, but rather to the concerns of "real Americans"—that is to say, of centrist pundits.

Republican support for same-sex marriage has already plummeted. With the sort of coordinated propaganda effort that's been used against trans people, it's reasonable to imagine independents could start to slide next. Democrats, do you want to be the party whose values are overruled by poll numbers?

Erin Reed@erininthemorning.com

Republican support for gay marriage has fallen to 41%. For those in the LGBTQ+ community who do not believe they are coming after gay marriage next after their draconian anti-trans restrictions, you're in for a surprise - we are all in this together.

New emissions data is out - and it’s not good news. Carbon pollution is going up, and it’s higher than under Morrison’s Libs. Labor’s approval of new coal and gas like the North West Shelf has consequences for the planet. Two climate tests so far - and Labor’s failed both.
