“Whatever the solution to the erosion of liberal democracy, it should be commonly held that no path back to power that does not consider Black America can be the American dream.” - @tressiemcphd.bsky.socialwww.nytimes.com/2026/10/27/o...
"El Sayed dug up the buried implication of Tommy's question, held it up for all to examine, and then, one shovelful after another, question by question, buried Tommy in the hole left behind."

Seeing how little coverage that house report that added another rape accusation to Trump's tally got today, I looked back on just the front page Benghazi stories (there were many, many more inside over these months).
There are only two explanations for the NYT's habit of presenting GOP operatives and donors as true swing voters:
1. Their reporters and editors are somehow incapable of running a simple Google searches, showing just a staggering level of journalistic incompetence
2. They want to the GOP to win
The good news is that we are winning in court. The bad news is that we have to win every case. Trump only needs to subvert one election to break democracy.
This week’s main story is about how more and more white nationalists, antisemites, and Nazi sympathizers seem to be integrating into the Republican Party, how some of them are currently running for office, and how old you can be for JD Vance to consider you “a very young boy.”
Any politician who’s willing to throw away one group’s rights is willing to throw away everyone’s rights. It’s that simple.
Every single consultant, pundit and candidate who’s shown a willingness to abandon trans rights needs to be shunned from the party forever
Kansas Dem Sen. nominee Adam Hamilton on trans rights:
“I don’t think we should take a small group of people and bully them, pick on them, and hurt them. I understand one thing really clearly when it comes to transgender people, and that is Jesus told me I was to love my neighbor as I love myself”
I'm told I need to be held responsible for the employment future of students who are graduating into an economy that's in the toilet and who live in a state ranked as the worst the country for workers.
Wages are the responsibility of employers, not professors.

Every elected and appointed Republican at the federal, state, and local levels, should be investigated, charged, convicted, and sentenced for being a part of an insurrectionist movement and a conspiracy to overthrow the United States government.
BASH: What's the crime?
AG TODD BLANCHE: What's the crime? Well it depends. There *could* be a crime. But the real wrong here is that Alaskans are gonna be confused.
BASH: The Alaskan Supreme Court ruled 4 months ago on this matter
I’m sure folks know this but you don’t need to know about dual cooling systems to know that you don’t want or need a data center in your community.
Additionally, no, we don’t need a Black-owned data center in the name of a “seat at the table.” just to get out ahead on that foolishness.
Today I wrote about Abdul El Sayed's encounter with a Christian fascist named "Tommy," and the fine art of digging up the shameful things fascists bury under their accusations, exposing them for what they are, and then burying their lies in the hole left behind.

The soaring costs of public universities is a political decision. When these schools predominantly served white students, they tended to be free (UC, CCNY, etc.) But as the number of students of color has increased, funding for the public universities has decreased.

You can't beat fascism by agreeing with fascism. You can't beat fascists by accepting a fascist frame.
Corporatist Democratic Party leadership needs to be defeated and jettisoned. We have to fight them, not because we don't want to fight Republicans, but because they refuse to.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC - @electdemocrats.bsky.social) is running anti-trans ads now, so I don't know how you can say the party itself isn't embracing transphobia.
There are still some good Dems out there, but transphobia is apparently a party value.
Trump didn't like Ramaswamy until he saw him sticking up for child rapists and their enablers. He hated the Ivy League until Cornell had a prominent fraternity gang-rape story in the news. He's not just a rapist, not just a serial rapist—he's a rape *enthusiast,* and it's why Republicans love him.
Trump: "What's happened is the press has ganged up on a woman making a horrible statement about her daughter, and I don't why she should be shielded. She said she was a dirty liar ... I say she's fair game."
Poverty is a policy decision. Concentrated wealth is a policy decision. Inequality is a policy decision.
Economic inequality is not some naturally occurring phenomenon. It is the consequence of choices.
One question I always urge my students to ask: who is the market organized for — and why?
Four brothers went to war against Hitler. Three were killed. The fourth survived, and his grandson, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is the president of Ukraine.
Zelensky comes from a family that fought tyrants: Trump negotiates with them while demanding concessions from their victims.
In the bedrock of my soul I know he started out thinking the press pool was a literal pool and has been seething with disappointment since he discovered the mistake
My brain cannot process this level of corruption.
She was being paid $50 million to engineer a pardon from Trump *while working at the Justice Department* as a "Special Government Employee."
And it worked. He got the pardon, and she got the money.

As dishonest as you may think Donald Trump is, it's not enough.
As stupid as you may think Donald Trump is, it's not enough.
As corrupt as you may think Donald Trump is, it's not enough.
As mentally ill as you may think Donald Trump is, it's not enough.
President Donald Trump has no legitimate grounds to order the seizure of ballots or voting machines during this year’s midterm elections.
But the dismal reality is he may try anyway. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...
Elon Musk has said he will give every child in America a stake in SpaceX, his $2 trillion aerospace and artificial intelligence company, as tech firms face intensifying scrutiny over their impact on society. https://cnn.it/4yWTjTJ
Elon Musk pledged to award a share of SpaceX to every American child, part of what he has vowed as an effort to unleash “universal high income” through AI.
“This will be the first of many,” Musk said on X.
America is *now* an ally of Russia? I'd argue it started in 2016 when the Trump campaign and the RNC softened the language on providing lethal defensive weapons to Ukraine as part of the Manafort/Kremlin/Yanukovich "peace plan" to cede Ukrainian territory to Putin. But okay. We can go with "now".
"A world in which the White House is allied to the Kremlin was, until now, the stuff of paranoid fiction. Manchurian candidates and red presidents were fantasies, dark tales Americans told themselves like ghost stories...
"But this alliance now exists."

"there needs to be a bipartisan reckoning for Mr. Trump’s budding alliance with the Kremlin against Ukraine, Europe and American interests." @wsj.com editorial board

Stand with liberal democracy and against Trump.
First, Thomas Teepell is not a voter. He lives in a different state. He was a political plant. Or, if you will, a paid protester. He is an agitator.
Second, Abul El-Sayed responded with more patience than most people could muster.
Calling him an angry, overly defensive jerk is you projecting.
