I recorded my first episode with @councilorkanal.bsky.social last night for my new councilor podcast, Motion to Spill 🎙️☕ and I'm excited to have a new way to talk about Portland government with the people who are shaping our future 🫶🏾 can't wait to see what y'all think 👀 Get an early preview:

youtu.beWhat's Really Happening with Portland's New Government? | Motion to Spill Ep. 1YouTube video by Portland City Councilor Candace Avalos

I want to watch the opening scenes over and over to catch all the details I know I missed. One of the few movies I've seen in the last 15years that I have a burning desire to actually own on physical media. I have no doubt I'll be seeing Wildwood in the theater again as soon as someone asks me.

The fact that Novick is being ranked 6th on both sides of the political spectrum is also noteworthy.

Kaliko Castille@wizkaliko.bsky.social

The fact that right-wing outlet PDXReal is ranking Torres 2nd is just another data point… whosbuyingpdx.com/profiles/tor...

Recap 3 days to receive the ballot in my mailbox. 2 days delivered to Multnomah County by mail. Just received notification of acceptance and counting. No fuckery detected.

Multnomah County just alerted me my ballot has been mailed, let's see if the USPS is up to fuckery. I'll update here when I receive it.

A friendly reminder: We're running a Progressive Slate in '28. Up and down the ballot. When the dust settles on this election it's time to start meeting, strategizing, and recruiting to primary every establishment legislative Dem and business-backed local candidate.

There is no world in which I will vote in favor of removing the first-class clause, and it's not something the Mayor can do unilaterally. This man has secured a path to roughly a billion in public subsidy for a stadium deal (despite my opposition) and still cries poor. We deserve better than this.

The Oregonian@oregonian.com

Negotiations between Trail Blazers owner Tom Dundon and Portland officials have stalled over a $1 billion settlement demand tied to the team's first-class arena maintenance clause, with Dundon pushing for a 10-year buyout option rather than the required 20-year lease commitment. https://mrf.lu/2bWJc

Voters will choose new leadership at Multnomah County, amid budget strains that have seen core services cut and transformational programs that are testing residents’ faith in local government. This is why we think Shannon Singleton is the right person to lead the Board of County Commissioners.

Almost half of Eli’s donations over $100 come from Republicans or Portland conservatives. Probably not someone we should be trusting to be a solid progressive vote in D4. whosbuyingpdx.com/profiles/arn...

Jamey Evenstar@jameyevenstar.bsky.social

Wait, so Eli is considered a climate champion now? He didn’t even fully sign on to the 350PDX Climate Justice Platform. Since when was he stumping for clean air?

No lies

Vivek Ramaswamy, Ken Paxton, Mike Collins, Roger Marshall, on and on - everywhere you look the most despicable humans financed by a handful of billionaires and elevated by Trump want you to give them even more political power to serve their interests at your expense.

Just say no to Christian Nationalism. Just say no way to Drazan.

SometimesPDX@sometimespdx.bsky.social

Oregon MAGA candidate for governor, Christine Drazan, hanging out with more Christian Nationalist gun lobbyists. The proliferation of guns lobbyist has nothing but praise for Drazan.

have not seen a lot of attention on the moda center lately. I think this issue has not really been widely appreciated as an example of gross fiscal mismanagement by the mayor and his allies, and I think voters should consider if they are endorsing this kind of graft on their ballots this year 🧵

This @wweek.com diss of @pnwpolicyangel.bsky.social is self parody. As if upholding "Portland Nice" is the highest calling of a city counselor? As if its rude to call out racism and/or the beholden behavior of corporate lackeys on city council? 😅

A third of Americans approve of Trump’s performance, according to this poll. Which means they’re either A) brain-damaged; B) lack self-respect and enjoy being victims, or C) think high prices are worth it as long as members of minority groups are treated like scum. Let me know if you have a D).

Eli Arnold, D4 city council candidate is suggesting that PCEF funds be used for some kind of fareless transit. Cool... but there's a hitch, he also wants to pair it with " added security, so everyone feels safe on the bus and train, it’s a plan that fits what the fund was built for."

Eli Arnold running for city council seat in D4 says he's raised plenty of money and you should support Kelly Torres--according to an email he sent out earlier today. Do with all that information what you will.

Having Jo Ann's endorsement means so much to me. She is literally the reason we have PCEF and Portland Street Response — two of the most important policies passed in Portland in decades. Her contributions to our city cannot be measured. Please wish Jo Ann a happy birthday, too! (1/2)

I am thrilled to endorse Steph Routh for East Multnomah Soil & Water Conservation District. Steph is deeply committed to the people of East County and will fight for our health and wellbeing just as she has done for over 20 years.
