Just going to be straight here — no pun intended: I am the only journalist who has been covering this issue in depth, was often the only journalist at hearings, and was the only one explaining what DOJ was actually arguing here. Support my work if you can: www.lawdork.com/subscribe

BREAKING: SCOTUS rejects Trump admin's request to allow it to end gender-affirming medical care in prisons — a significant, if tentative, rejection of one of the admin's most extreme anti-trans arguments. Only Thomas and Alito noted they would have granted the stay. More to come: www.lawdork.com

Just call me “Exhibit A” 👋

Chris Geidner@chrisgeidner.bsky.social

In addition to the procedural noncompliance, however, the plaintiffs' lawyers — relying, in part, on the work of @gillianbrockell.com (Exhibit A) — also raise questions of substantive noncompliance.

We can see this in the ICE flight data. Domestic “round-up” flights are spiking, and some activist flight watchers report the flights are getting fuller. But deportation and removal flights remain steady. This means the concentration camps are getting packed to the brim. It’s awful to comprehend.

Aaron Reichlin-Melnick@reichlinmelnick.bsky.social

ICE is engaged in a very large escalation nationwide, with the agency claiming to be hitting record arrest numbers amid the return of quotas. This has gotten very little attention from the media because ICE learned lessons from the chaotic disasters of Kristi Noem’s tenure. Keep a watch.

In terms of what cures are being lost: - Epstein-Barr virus is perhaps the major trigger for multiple sclerosis - herpes simplex virus causes cold sores, genital herpes, infections in babies, deadly meningitis - shingles virus causes an intensely painful disease

NEW: This was the last essay I was supposed to publish at the Washington Post. But they fired me. I'm publishing it anyway-- about my family's connection to a sword the British looted from Ghana in 1874. If youve ever wondered why I love swords, here's why. open.substack.com/pub/karenatt...

open.substack.comThe "Return" of the Golden SwordMy grandfather guarded it. The British stole it. I'm named after it—and I'm going to fight for it.

A constant false theme of the far right is they are ‘protecting’ kids from minorities. Their core online shock troops are ‘incels’ - yet more than half of ‘incels’ advocate Child Sex Abuse. The Epstein files, & reports like this, show that for fascism as always, every criticism is an admission.

bylinetimes.comMore than Half of Incels Support Paedophilia, Finds New ReportResearch by the Centre for Countering Digital Hate has found widespread acceptance of sexual violence against children in 'incel' communities

Republicans are in here cosplaying as protectors of women and children, but they were silent when Renee Good was killed, willingly voted to cut SNAP, and are now sitting by as ICE rips children away from their families. Miss me with the selective outrage.

On trans Bluesky, there are many posts circulating describing Epstein's anti-trans views and ties to prominent transphobes. Anti-trans politics fit neatly into all of this because the existence of trans people threatens the idea that men are naturally superior to women.

These men hate the left, labor organizing, feminism, #metoo, and human rights movements because all of these are pushing for equality and accountability, presenting a threat to these men's ability to dominate and abuse with impunity.

going into people's houses without a warrant. applying for a warrant to investigate a person they already killed. just wild fucking frontiers in 4th amendment law

"...from a civil rights probe to an investigation into a suspected assault on an officer, the people said. A federal magistrate judge rejected that warrant, noting that Good was already dead and could not be considered a suspect for a warrant."

Excellent reporting from Heated and Atmos. It looks like some of the biggest investors in the anti-trans movement are fossil fuel billionaires who are trying to use trans issues to ensure that Republicans pass policies favorable to their industry. heated.world/p/fossil-fue...

I often wonder if white scholars have any idea what any of this feels like. If they have to spend weeks distracted by hate mail and death threats. If they have any clue how different we are. I spend so much of my time fighting to exist. My rights are always conditional. Their's are just a given.

I believe this to my core. They're using trans people as a test case to dismantle individual rights in the US.

Racheline Maltese@racheline.bsky.social

Trans rights are not the rights of a tiny minority, trans rights are everyone’s rights to self-determination, control of our bodies, and a society where opportunity and aesthetics are not restricted by sex assigned at birth You should support and defend trans people because trans people are people

Very simple in systems theory perspective: When you control communications, you control the systems. You can't control, because it is too complex, but you can irritate or channel communications and "direct" emergence. So, it's a big problem when few people "own" the communication of the many.

Ta-Nehasi Coates is doing a lot of things with this essay, but one of the most important is fearlessly using examples of anti-trans hate to describe Charlie Kirk's politics. The contrast between his choices and those of other writers for major legacy outlets is revealing.
