So treating Chytrid in the wild is surprisingly easy. If you build a sauna, the frogs will seek it out. They sit inside until it gets too hot for them, and then they leave. No other treatments are required

Fortunately, we can do something about it. Chytrid can't survive past 30Β°C (86Β°F) but frogs can, and because they're cold-blooded, they'll seek out heat to warm up and leave the heat to cool off

Hard agree. If you haven’t heard of it, it’s because Meta sued the author and got a gag order that prevents her from saying a single word about her own book. Mark Zuckerberg is a threat to human rights and democracies the world over, including ours. It is vitally important you know how and why.

If you've got a professional account on Instagram switch it to a personal account before the 30th, or Facebook is going to essentially have full licence rights to everything you put on there 🀷

That should certainly be the trigger for all governments in Europe to eliminate their dependence on MS, and, indeed, ALL US tech companies, because Apple and Google have bent the knee in other ways.

And here's the kicker: Microsoft has terminated the M365 and Outlook access of international public officials whose official acts made Trump angry.

❗❗❗Mark Zuckerberg's meta just suspended the No Kings Instagram account. I just rushed back from my local No Kings to jump on this. Bottom line, would be helpful for all pro-No Kings folks to elevate the issue and help us get the word out about No Kings today. The Nerd Reich strikes again.

the fact that everyone always frames Texas as Lucy & the Football instead of a mountain we've been working to climb is a perfect example. Instead of "man we got closer to the summit this time, let's regroup" the narrative is, "god we got fooled into thinking it would happen AGAIN, we're idiots"

Found this during my analysis and review of the Epstein Files. Jeffrey Epstein took this photo at a dinner. That’s Mark Zuckerberg to the left; Elon Musk, Peter Theil, and LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman, across the table..

What if we just didn't make fun of what people looked like (or their size, or ability, or hair or clothes or makeup or plastic surgery even or any of that shit) Because actually what matters is what you say and what you do words and actions and their impact on other people

been reading through this and Tilly does a fantastic job explaining in very easily digested but thorough detail about the harm harry potter causes, how to take accountability as an ex fan of the franchise, and how to hold others accountable.

Welcome to #TransTuesday! There is NO ethical consumption of Harry Potter Not the books, movies, or tv show. Not licensed games or merch. Not fanfic. Not even pirated. EVERY bit keeps the franchise alive and enables JKR's transphobia If you truly care about trans people, you need to let it die

The Cartoon Network leak revealed that the team actually wrote fake interviews for the Powerpuff Girls in-house so that the writers could understand them better and honestly this is incredibly useful for learning how to characterize your characters holy shit

This is like the period where every urban fantasy with a female author was being marketed as "paranormal romance." The genres are closely related, but they aren't the same thing.

If your historical setting is a major city it was never an all white place. Traders, migrants, laundry, railroad...pick a time period, somebody of color was always present. Sometimes as servants, more often as people going about their business. That's not DEI casting, that's actual history.

Your daily reminder that more people are playing and buying PC games than ever before. This is a growing industry. The only reason the industry is struggling is because the people are the top are vacuuming up all the money made to divert it to AI in an unhinged all-in multi-trillion-dollar gamble.

Re-post. This GOP attack ad is in heavy rotation during NFL games. TERF Soren Aldaco says Ohio's Sherrod Brown "supports sex changes for minors, irreversible surgery on kids like me.” 1. Aldaco has never lived in Ohio. 2. She had her surgery in Texas. So blame them. 3. She was 19, not a "kid."

It's already illegal. Congress banned it near-unanimously in 2022. That law allows the ban to be lifted only if Russia withdraws from Ukraine. He's simply breaking the law that's already on the books.

Republican US Rep Brian Fitzgerald tweets that he will introduce a bill to block purchases of Russian oil. Don Bacon (R-Neb) tweets that he will co-sponsor. Obviously this won’t happen during campaigning recess (and Trump could veto anyway) but interesting push-back on Trump.

What? A 5e blog post!? That's right, our very own @krasiph.bsky.social dusts off their D&D knowledge to explain The Six Encounter Day: why it exists, how to use it, and how you can apply those insights to any #TTRPG. www.patreon.com/InfiniteCita...

Most recent ones I can remember are some spoiler heavy moments from the Plague Tale franchise. Including at least one where I had to full on put my controller down and sob for a bit before I could play again.

This is your occasional reminder that generative "AI" in particular could have been developed on public domain materials and/or licensed and compensated works but the major players intentionally, methodically and systemically chose to steal labor from working creative folks instead

I was tempted to pirate HP, curiosity and all that. But @jessiegender.bsky.social is right - think of the amount of times HBO commented on GOT leaks and downloads, just as an example. They DO track these things, and even that drives interest. Let this show die. Trans people deserve better.

The centaur metaphor has the worker taking the role of the top half of the mythical man/horse, the half in which the judgment and decision-making takes place; while the bottom (horsey) half is given to the machine, providing strength, speed and stamina, but only at the direction of the human mind.

This is why AI bosses are so violently allergic to the idea of hybridizing AI with symbolic systems that operate on models of the world. These models of the world must be constructed by experts, and the power of expertise cannot be reliably commanded by the power of wealth.

The technical excitement over AI's capabilities - from chess to gold-mining to treating pancreatic cancer - cannot be separated from the *political* excitement that billionaires (short on expertise, flush with cash) experience.

The promise of theory-free inference isn't just about reducing the *wage-bill* associated with programmers: even more, it's about reducing their *power*. It's about removing their power to hold bosses to account for sexual assault and the power to withhold their labor from lethal military projects.

When that expertise is locally scarce (there's only one person in town who know how to clean your toilet) or universally scarce (there's only one expert who can tell you which of your landholdings are likely to hold seams of gold) those experts have something that billionaires can't abide: *power*.
