Reading papers on less decision intensive preference algorithms feels like one of those 1800s french cookbooks where it's like "Step 1 make this sauce that has 200 steps each of which is a different recipe that requires 10 steps each themselves"

Once mass spam texts were made legal, younger donors vanished, leaving a grassroots fundraising machine that subsists on squeezing vulnerable seniors, some of whom give hundreds of times a day. It’s a horrific model. Consultants get generationally wealthy, and the party hollows out its future.

Jake Grumbach@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social

We found that as of right now 73% of your campaign donation goes back to the consultants and vendors (!!!), four times more than just 20 years ago. Only 13% to ads. Even I was shocked.

Gonna do a Nathan Fielder bit where I get an MBA, become an exec at a game company, pitch the idea of selling more copies of a game than it cost to make and then eventually become CEO of all video games.

Business Insider also reporting that Amazon projects it would take delivery of $3 billion a month in GPUs “every month for the foreseeable future,” all while not having anywhere to put them, as part of an “early rack receipt” program. Extremely strange!

Business Insider confirms it: Amazon has warehouses of GPUs that can’t be installed, and is buying them so far in advance that a supply chain team said they “didn’t have a clear forecasted path” to installing them. www.businessinsider.com/amazon-220-b...

Free newsletter: I estimate that ~50% of AI chip sales - $200bn to $300bn+ - are sitting in warehouses, with NVIDIA selling hundreds of billions of GPUs years in advance. There should be some kind of calculator where whenever a billionaire donates some amount of money, you can quickly what percentage that is of their net worth, apply it to your own net worth and see how much of a sacrifice it actually is

I’m absolutely boggled that no code tool has a first class find all or find and replace tool in the toolset and harness. Like anyone caring for quality or efficiency would see this as a super fast win.

What am I going on about? If you wonder why Claude or copilot take so long to find similar code or ask you to approve a bunch of “grep” or python commands… It’s because it doesn’t have a basic “find all” tool in the toolbox…

It appears to me that the scenario they invented for this evaluation is explicitly designed to get it to do exactly this. They remove the instructions for the task to "protect the vendor" or something but it's pretty easy to reconstruct from the text.
