I'll never get past the surreal absurdity of an 80 year old man who has made a 50 year old gay anthem (to everyone but the guy who sang it) his theme.

Trump has some sort of large contraption around his waist again today that makes him look vaguely like a centaur while he stands

The 7th Oct was the biggest single-day massacre in the modern history of Palestine/Israel. It was followed by the most lethal campaign in the history of the country. In the last three years, Israel inflicted a 7 Oct on Gaza every three weeks on average (in absolute terms; more in relative terms).

Maybe the most culturally connected I feel to Mayor Mamdani is that every single progressive Jew has also been called both a Zionist stooge and a Hamas stooge by people on opposite sides.

The siege of Mariupol saw 6,500 Russian fatalities, and 906 Ukrainian KIA. To date, Israeli *combatant* fatalities number less than 1,200. Gaza combatant fatalities *as reported by Israel* are somewhere <2,000. This was not war. It was murder.

The two main tendencies in national Israeli politics right now are "expulsion and annexation of the Palestinian territories" vs "civil separation under the authority of an Israeli police state", and virtually all mainstream US commentary simply refuses to engage with this.

I remain deeply fascinated by this, because I guarantee that other issues have come up that have impacted him, personally, as much (if not more) than a data center. It's like someone turned on the subtitles for policy implications--but only for data centers. Just data centers. Nothing else.

This funny @statmodeling.bsky.social piece called it Jews are 2% of US electorate, 35% of which support the status quo Israeli occupation. That means all those news articles are about 0.7% of the US electorate (Jewish Americans who support it) lmao statmodeling.stat.columbia.edu/2026/07/26/t...

statmodeling.stat.columbia.edu People sometimes talk about “the Jewish vote,” but what’s relevant is not really the Jewish vote or Jewish public opinion; it’s really about campaign contributions and the news media. Also similar ...

applying "Make ___ Great Again" to Germany really does kinda give the game away

Trump: “Wow! The Populist Party in Germany just had a really big night. They finally got tired of the absolutely horrible Immigration rules and regulations which have hurt Germany so badly. THEY ARE ON THE RISE, and not going to take it anymore! MGGA!!! President DJT”

none of the people spitting on brad lander for identifying this way while loudly proclaiming that israel is committing genocide and he supports block the bombs would ever have the moral courage to allow their own views to evolve in a similarly drastic & necessary way

Jesse Myerson@jessemyerson.bsky.social

We should all be glad that Brad Lander categorizes himself as a pro-two-state liberal Zionist. So identifying is the price of admission to many spaces where audiences may be receptive to his views on apartheid/genocide/Palestinian freedom, but where they would be completely absent without him.

I have a question. By who? Which evil nation is crossing an ocean so they can engage in a land invasion of Canada?

Vance: We have to remember, Canada is a state-- sorry, Freudian slip. Canada is a country that would get invaded by a foreign country if it weren't for America

Worth a read every year. But this year? For the 250th? It's scorching. Read it to you family or friends. Find a town square and read it out loud. Repost it. Nothing you hear today will frame this country better. www.thenation.com/article/soci...

Anyway, the objectively correct account of Oct 7 — that the Palestinian armed factions had a legitimate casus belli but also acted in gross and shocking disregard for the laws of war — is a position that gets you yelled at by everyone

Man, it’s almost like the thing we’ve been saying would help actually helps! Time for UBI.
