Having a 24-hour/overnight EEG is interesting. For one thing, I’ve discovered that I’m apparently allergic to whatever type of glue they use to attach all the wires. For another, the elaborate wires, braids, netting, and scarves set up is making me feel like I’d fit right into Star Wars.

Everyone keeps asking me how I’m feeling about early voting so far. I’m feeling like nobody *actually* knows anything, and this is the most important midterm of our lives. I’d rather be us than them, but we can’t get comfortable. We can’t get complacent. Go vote like we’re down 3%.

I went through some traumatic things as a young child, and developed OCD essentially as a coping mechanism. I used to have to do everything in 3’s. I went to a museum and felt compelled to touch a sculpture. I was caught, and then spent the day agonizing over not being able to touch it twice more.

If you can't adopt there are lots of other things you can do to help. Foster, volunteer, fundraise, do a supply drive, sign up for your local shelter's newsletter to find out other ways to help. Remember that volunteering doesn't necessarily mean physical labor - shelters need all kinds of skills!

Welp. 10 hours in a packed ER, multiple sets of labs, 45+ oz of oral fluids and 2 bags of 0.9% saline later, I am now an acceptable-enough-for-discharge level of dehydrated. I’d had a few days stress/med change diarrhea but I really thought I was hydrating ok 🤦🏻‍♀️ Dehydration. Silent until it isn’t!

In the ER again. On the second bag of fluids, waiting on more lab tests. Maybe other tests. The last round month can go suck a lemon 🥴

I think part of why losing Greta is being so hard on me is because it’s during the same week (a few years later) I had to leave my soul cat behind to save my eldest and myself from DV. This is such a hard time of year on top of everything else. I’m not sure what this experience was meant for yet.
