I have no idea if prayer works or not but I do say one every time I see the air ambulance fly over because even if it doesn’t do any good, I’m positive it will do no harm.

A majority of a province just sitting there thinking about the past and going “y’know what I really miss about the good old days? The Chinese head tax, that’s what!”

Some very very shady shit happening in NS re: the Everwind data centre breaking ground with no public consultation, and then this.

MPs Kody Blois and Mike Kelloway have responded to my open letter to them, attached. I've asked Jennifer Henderson and Joan Baxter to respond, and they will later today. In the meanwhile, here are my thoughts.

And last but not least, she taught a desperate and needy nation how to kick a field goal

June Callwood After starting her career with the Globe and Mail and Maclean's, she embarked on a career in social activism. She founded or co-founded over 50 Canadian social action organizations. She received the Order of Canada and a school is named for her.

The best advice I ever got about driving was from my dad, who said that sometimes the posted speed limit is probably a little bit too low and sometimes it is far too high, and what separates a good driver from a bad driver is that they can recognize the difference and react appropriately.

Congratulations to Anne Carson on receiving the 2026 #NobelPrize in Literature. Carson taught at Princeton University in the 1980s and was recently on campus to deliver the 2025 Fagles Lecture: https://bit.ly/3TteJZj

Any state’s right to peace and security ends when they’re bombing and murdering every single one of their neighbouring countries.

Three years ago, the terrorist organisation Hamas perpetrated the worst attack against Jewish people since the Holocaust. My statement:

It will never cease to amaze me that even though the FIA has 75 years of history to draw on and probably the most comprehensive rule book of any sport, so much of their decision making boils down to “Uh oh! What the hell do we do now?”

Reading "Life After Cars" and was blown away by this fact. A light rail station being added to a rural area in Japan reduced health care costs in that community to the tune of $600 per person per year!! 🤯

So in the end, he says we’re building “a Canada that works.” My question is: a Canada that works for who, and at whose expense?

The story of our age: amoral tech company releases a new technology that has few benefits, and lots of downsides. Governments that have been compromised or bought off by tech bros fail to protect the public by simply banning it. The cost of policing this nonsense falls on the rest of society.

Wishing @kehlee.bsky.social an average birthday. Why not something more superlative? Well why should a friend spend their birthday of all days labouring under the weight of other people’s potentially unreasonable expectations? That said, if you manage to clear that bar I’ll be happy for you 😉

Just think of all the talent, time, and treasure that has gone into producing nonsense — NFTs, Bitcoin, “prediction markets”, fast fashion, data brokers, most social media, and a good fraction of AI “solutions” — that could have been used to make the world better instead… What a lost opportunity.

As I was standing by this gas pump filling up my truck with six dollar gas I couldn’t help but think that this was a small price to pay so that every child wanting to play sports in elementary school has to submit to mandatory genital inspections

Aside from completely perverting the foundations of our democratic system, I can’t see how this “repayment” would be considered anything other than a political contribution, which has a capped annual maximum of vastly less than what the riding associations would hope to get back.

Oh look, the MP for Niagara West-Glanbrook is complicit in in a multi-day PR stunt which he is naming after himself and calling an “inquiry” despite the lack of any parliamentary motion to that effect. There are certain benefits to no longer living there.

Taking the dogs out for a walk since there’s a break in the weather. It’s been making me a little stir crazy, but not “take my ride on mower out for a drive behind the Stratford Sobeys” levels of stir crazy. No implements on it. He plainly wasn’t cutting anything. 🤷

The s/w developer in me loves discovering bugs and configuration errors in the wild. This morning’s was the automated prescription refill system at my pharmacy suggesting that I could stop in to pick up my refill 2 hours before they will be open today.

I just walked past the new townhouse development, and thought of Pete Seeger‘s song “Little Boxes”, except now the lyrics would be “there’s a beige one and a beige one and a beige one and a beige one, and they’re all made out of ticky-tacky and they all look just the same”

Quite literally 20 townhouse units, all absolutely identical. I can’t wait to go to the town meetings where the residents of those houses will complain about changes disrupting the character of the neighbourhood.

Every so often I get a reminder of the passage of time. I just walked past the row of lockers assigned to the DVM class of 2030. If my math maths, most of them hadn't started kindergarten on my first day of employment here 17 years ago (and I had 15 years in the workforce then!)

Our Jack Russell likes to nap in the sun. He just plunked himself down on his right side on our deck in front of the BBQ and proceeded to alternately wiggle his nose, eyebrows, and ears for about 90 seconds, like a golfer waggling his club before a swing.

I do like how sometimes sitting on a problem for a bit gives a solution that is both simpler and better than the idea that I first had. I like to call this “procrastination pays off”

we ask everyone outside of the car to be safe so that drivers can be dangerous - this is the entirety of our approach to road safety.
