The anomalies in this image are with respect to the 1981-2010 baseline and are a 5-day running mean. Add ≈0.69°C to convert to the 1850-1900 IPCC pre-industrial. Forecast global anomaly on October 31st: 2.06°C above pre-industrial. The Climate Casino is taking the UNDER.

#C4news We go now from jovial pundits discussing the nuanced differences on Palestinian rights to film of bodies being dug from the rubble. A 14 yr old boy, and then more people perhaps family members. The people digging explain to an uncle that from 24 people they found only 2 bones.

Sensible moderate liberals will be the death of us.

Carney is completely and utterly owned by corporate psychopaths and fossil fuel ghouls. His every action is the antithesis of climate change mitigation best practices. Carney is literally death.

Watching the BBC cooking program. They have all been given those poppies to wear, each is identical and pinned to the nearest mm. What if one of them says "I've got my own thanks" or even "I don't want to wear one"? #statepropaganda

Miatta can clearly see right from wrong but she's rowed into line twice with a Labour government siding with Shell and Donald Trump on climate vandalism, and into line now on cruel immigration reforms. What is the point of Labour if they can't even do the basics to protect people and the planet?

As the Jackdaw and Rosebank decisions pop up again I'm going to repeat post this link. It's a helpful read.

Kevin Anderson@kevinclimate.bsky.social

I was asked by a colleague from my oil & gas days (who has remained in the industry) why UK producing its own gas is less acceptable to the Greens (& others) than importing it from America and West Africa.' The full question & my reply is now online at: climateuncensored.com/there-is-no-...

And the latest stupid argument. We need more warships and bombs to protect our fossil fuel infrastructure in the North Sea.

And they couldn't even wait more than a few hours after their morally corrupt Jackdaw announcement to start peddling this BS.

And meanwhile the gohead for 'Sea Lion' passes under the radar. I mean are the Falklands British or not? Because if it's not our oil why doesn't it count? Are we planning to blame Argentina for climate collapse after we drill out all the money? bsky.app/profile/thie...

Dr. Aaron Thierry@thierryaaron.bsky.social

Meanwhile... "the foreign secretary has approved new drilling in the Sea Lion field, which is estimated to hold 1.7 billion barrels of oil and expected to start producing from 2028."

Despite the cost of living crisis, many, many people are doing everything they can to avert the climate crisis. And the government is fucking them over a barrel.

Simon Evans@drsimevans.carbonbrief.org

NEW ANALYSIS: Expensive gas behind "nearly 90%" of rise in UK household electricity bills since 2020 + 77% of the rise in gas bills Contrary to what you've seen in media / political narratives, net-zero is "helping to shelter Britain from the impact of expensive gas", says @acjsissons.bsky.social

I'm hearing people say it is a balanced pragmatic decision, that those opposed do not understand the situation with Jackdaw, why it's impact is small and the benefits of employment, security, speed of deployment are compelling. These people do not understand the climate crisis.

Jackdaw: a decision for last century. climateuncensored.com/jackdaw-a-de... A hastily drafted post following the UK Govt’s decision to approve further drilling & production at the Jackdaw gas field in the North Sea. Please excuse typos, non-sequiturs, etc - I wanted to get the post online today.

climateuncensored.comJackdaw: a decision for the last century - Climate UncensoredThis post borrows from and builds on my four previous posts about Jackdaw and Rosebank.

Roving reporter: I'm here on the Jackdaw gas rig and that's why this is a really great decision. Studio presenter: Thank you and we are all preying for your safety, hope you can get back before storm Austen batters you to death.

The Govt claiming we must drill more fossil fuels so we can use the tax revenues to fund the green transition is about as logical as a doctor telling you to smoke 2 packs a day to raise the money for your lung transplant You don’t put out a fire by pouring on more fuel 🔥#Jackdaw

The UK Government has announced the approval of the Jackdaw gas field project in the North Sea. This sends entirely the wrong signal as the impacts of climate change intensify, with those who have contributed least to the crisis likely to be hit hardest.

Real 1930s stuff.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

😳 Trump loses it and SNAPS at a string of reporters, says Ilhan Omar might "go to jail," calls Somalia "a shit house," and boasts that thanks to a new program he announced today Americans "will make millions of dollars by turning others in" during absolutely deranged Oval Office event Supercut:

An informative thread that leaves one realising, that because it's going to do very little to help and the message it sends is hugely damaging it should have been a flat no.

James Murray@james-bg.bsky.social

The problem is not really Jackdaw, which is pretty small. The problem is the UK's plan to transition away from fossil fuels is still not ambitious and detailed enough. The problem is if Rosebank follows. The problem is if every country develops one last fossil fuel project we're all screwed.

But they all fell for it in Salisbury, let's give it another try.

British police said they have rearrested two men on suspicion of assisting Iran’s intelligence service over an alleged plot at a U.S.-run air base in England last month.

Today's decision by Labour to approve new drilling in the North Sea is climate vandalism. It's a betrayal of all of our futures, and Labour has abandoned all credibility in the fight against climate change. This is a victory for Shell over the people. www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cw...

bbc.co.ukUK government approves Jackdaw gas field, and says production will start this month - follow liveActivists say approving the gas field will raise carbon emissions - while the developers argue it is important for the UK’s energy security.

If you voted Labour to save the biosphere, or because they would support human rights and international law, or because they might not be the party of billionaires, you now know you are way too gullible for the rest of us to take you seriously.

This project is expected to generate about $130bn. The UK is expected to get just $15bn spread over 30 years. The Israeli company that owns the majority share will get about $50bn.

🚨 Andy Burnham to approve new fossil fuel drilling in the North Sea. We should be accelerating the transition away from fossil fuels, not drilling for more. A betrayal of future generations who will live with the consequences of this climate vandalism.

Oh look we are getting sucked into the Yemen again.

Palmist Ankur@palmistankur.bsky.social

The RAF will fly defensive missions to protect Saudi from Ansarallah attacks, as per Bloomberg. In my Autumn 2026 predictions for the UK, I'd said that the Andy Burnham govt. "is likely to take imprudent decisions in foreign policy." This seems to be one of the highest order of imprudence. #UK

That is very true. I've had the privilege to cooperate with both Israeli environmentalists opposing the war on Gaza and Ukrainian climate activists working to expedite the energy transition, and I wish more of the int'l climate movement acknowledged the intersections of war and the climate crisis.
